I love math, I love explaining how it works, and I love helping people. That's why teaching comes easily to me.I am patient and easygoing; if my student does not understand something, I'll take that as a welcome opportunity to improve my own teaching. When we finish a session, I will have taken note of concepts in need of reenforcement, recurring mistakes, and general tips to make your problem solving a whole lot easier. After years of tutoring and a year teaching high school, I know all the common math mistakes student make. We can fix those, so farther down the line they won't come back to haunt you on the SAT.

I was once in the same shoes of many Varsity Tutors' students. I was struggling to learn my subjects and preparing for the SAT standardized test. I came from a rural high school (DuBois, PA) with no AP classes as well as no Honors classes. I was projected that engineering would be too difficult for me and that I should pursue something less rigorous. I ended up graduating with a Honors degree in chemical engineering and a minor in mathematics from the Pennsylvania State University. I then received a Ph.D. in chemical engineering from Carnegie Mellon University doing all of my research work with Sandia National Laboratories. I achieved these goals by setting high expectations for myself and striving every day to meet these expectations. I am a tutor that predominantly focuses on STEM and Business subjects from high school through graduate school as well as standardized tests. I really do not have a favorite subject here. I just enjoy teaching students who desire to learn and improve themselves. When I was an undergraduate student as well as a teaching assistant in graduate school teaching first semester students, I could take a person the night before the exam that had no clue of what was going on in class and help them achieve a B on the exam the next day. Standardized tests such as the SAT/ACT exam comprise various courses in high school and I cannot teach someone everything they need to know in one night or if a person is weeks behind in the understanding of the course material. Whether it is a standardized test or learning another subject; an assessment must be determined of where the student is currently in their understanding of the material. Next a game plan must be put together to get the student from where they are currently at to where they want to go. The fact of the matter is unless a student has always struggled in mathematics since kindergarten, they can achieve a perfect or near perfect score on the SAT/ACT mathematics section. The only traits that are required are a high level of expectations as well as the desire and effort to achieve those expectations. When it comes to solving problems, I will always ask the student on how they would solve a particular problem. Their answers can range that they definitely know how to solve it to they have absolutely no idea. I would then guide them along through each problem with the goal to have them understand a correct approach needed and to instill in the student a better understanding of the material as time goes along. As far as more information about myself, I am a person that enjoys learning and growing in all pursuits and my favorite hobby is working out and lifting weights at my local Planet Fitness. Additional Information: I am a STEM based tutor for Varsity Tutors in which I tutor everything from entry level to advanced subjects in Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, all Engineering disciplines, and MBA courses. I am continuously adding both courses in an individual field as well as fields themselves to tutor. I tutor from 6th grade to graduate school as well as students with mental disabilities. I help students from inner city schools to the top boarding schools in the US to state public universities as well as the ivy league. I work with students at international universities along with international students in the US as well as adults going back to school.

I was born and raised in Northern Italy, in the mountains, in a place where most people actually speak German. No, I don't have an accent, because my father is American and so I was raised bilingually from birth speaking German and English at home. Later of course I learnt Italian and then I studied Latin, French in high school as well. I've always been passionate about learning languages, and when I was into something, learning was easy for me and I enjoyed it.I graduated from the University of Innsbruck (Austria) with a MA in English and a minor in Spanish. After graduating, I worked in linguistic research and then decided to get a TEFL certificate to teach English as a foreign language. I moved from Italy to Prague and spent about a year teaching EFL there to private clients, both adults and kids as well as a class in high school. That's when I realized that teaching is my calling, my thing. I moved back to Italy to teach EFL in high school and middle school for 2.5 years, before moving to Detroit to get my MA in education at the University of Michigan Flint. Since 2019, I have been working as a teacher in public schools, and I am passionate about helping students. I believe that we all are learners and teachers. all of us are readers and writers. I have the ability to share my passion for learning with others, and one of my greatest strengths is building relationships with students which is the corner stone to successful learning and teaching. I believe that there are no bad kids or bad students, it's just that we all have different paths and ways of learning, we all have a different pace. As a teacher i strive to acknowledge that and find ways to support all students, adapting to their needs and paths, meeting them where they are at. It is my job to believe in every single student and help them believe in themselves. When I am not teaching or engaging with students, I like to read, walk, hike, travel, explore, work out, watch my favorite shows. I enjoy playing and watching ice hockey, and I try to go home to visit my family in Italy once a year.

Essentially, as a student, we are a product of our whole learning environment, which would involve more than textbooks, exams & assignments. It involves making learning experiences/ opportunities fun.As a Varsity Tutor, I engage each student with positive encouragement at all times, in order to foster confidence in the subject matter. Being attentive is tough to do all the time, so my challenge to potential students is a simple one:I promise to make learning fun and to make sure your confidence will grow in each particular subject, I am professionally trained to teach French, lived there for 3 years, and went to graduate school in Southern France.May you, the potential student/client, please bring an open mind & above-average effort to my tutor sessions... as well as a notebook for keeping notes throughout the study session. Please understand that perfection is not our goal, progress is the objective every time we meet. Practice takes effort; great practice takes great effort. I will consistently encourage my students to better judge their own progress by basic homework assignments and planned quizzes that I will announce at appropriate times. As long as we practice your class work together in a fun, interactive & patient manner, we shall see positive progress in academic report cards.Learning is a two-way bridge as well, open communication between student-tutor is obvious, but what prospective students must know about me is I love to learn new material. And so I will learn alongside you, from you too!I guarantee that my teaching style will revolve around the foundation of a fun, relaxed, honest connection with each of the students that I instruct. The platform of Variety Tutors will allow me to be accessible to students at all times. Please feel free to contact me with any questions via email.

My approach to tutoring is flexible and adjusted for every students learning style so to have maximum effectiveness. I can adapt and modify it to meet the individual needs of my students and their areas of weakness. I tutor a variety of subjects, which includes AP Exams, Calculus, Algebra, Physics, Statistics, Differential Equations, General Chemistry, and K-12 Math and Science, as well as a list of standardized tests, ranging from ACT and SAT for high school students as well as AP Exams and AP Subject Tests. I try to maintain the interest of my students by making learning both enjoyable and interesting.I have been tutoring for 6 + years as an K-12th grade tutor as well as college. I have tutored for AP exams, SAT, ACT, and PSAT with great results with 98th percentile grades from my students in the Math and Reading section of the SAT & ACT.As an Electrical Engineering major, I had to be very grounded in math subjects, my mathematics foundation and applications allow me to be a very versatile tutor, breaking down the subject into easy to understand modules. As a result, I am very comfortable and confident in not only tutoring them but doing so at a level and style that students can readily follow and understand. I have taken higher level math courses and understand the fundamentals very well so it allows me to teach them in a way that is basic enough for anyone to understand.Everyone learns in a different way, so each student you teach is different each with their own strengths and weaknesses so tailoring the learning experience to each student is the best way to help the student learn in their own way.Math is easy it is just taught in a way students have difficulty learning, everyone does not think the same but I have a variety of methods to help anyone understand. Having a strong math foundation will help not only in your classes but in life as everything includes math.
