I have been teaching multiple subjects with an ever increasingly diverse group of students since 2008, when I graduated from the University of Toledo, with my Bachelor of Art in History and Bachelor of Education in Adolescent/Young Adult Education. I have taught history, math, language, reading, test preparation, life skills, business, and vocational skills to students of all ages and all ability types, including students with special needs. Over the last ten years, I have worked with students with Autism Spectrum Disorders, Emotional Disturbances, Specific Learning Disabilities, and other special needs, helping them to achieve academic and social success in the classroom and community. I received my Master of Art in Inclusive Education in 2016, and my Master of Education in Foundations of Behavior Analysis in 2019.It is my belief that every student has the potential to learn anything; it is up to the student, teacher, and parent(s)/guardian(s) to figure out through what medium is best suitable for the learner. I am a facilitator, rather than a lecturer; it is critical that the student explain his or her thought process when completing an assignment, so I may evaluate whether or not she or he fully understands the concept. I believe that learning can be fun, whether it is reading a book, or playing a game. I look forward to working with you and/or your learner through the course of this year!

With my many years of teaching experience, I have learned that the impact I have on my students is immense. A teacher has the power to make or break a child's mind and soul My choice is always to create. I believe that the young mind has the right to be given an opportunity to acquire skills and knowledge they can use throughout their lives. Every student no matter where they come from, what values they hold, and what culture they practice, they should have the opportunity have their minds cultivated and opened. It is only in this regard that they will have the knowledge and ability to think critically, believe in themselves and become citizens that contributes to society's well being.

Growing up as the oldest of five kids, I've spent a large part of my life being a tutor for my siblings. This helped me develop my teaching skills at a young age, and served me well when I became a recitation instructor at University of Colorado Denver, teaching upper-division genetics. My year-long tenure there only deepened my love of teaching and helped me strengthen my abilities to educate many different styles of learners. I also have the experience with graduate standardized testing, as I scored in the 95th percentile or above on the SAT, ACT, and MCAT.Since graduating in May with two degrees in biology and psychology, I have spent my time going through the medical school application process. During the upcoming year, I hope to help tutor those still in school not only to keep on my toes academically, but to help those who may be struggling with various subjects throughout their academic careers. There is no better feeling than watching someone have a eureka moment of understanding, and I look forward to meeting and working with new students.As a Colorado native, I love spending my free time hiking and climbing my way through the Rockies. I also enjoy playing volleyball (being 6'8" has its advantages) and teaching myself to play the guitar.

With this, I could gain knowledge on working with children and being able to identify behavior issues and interventions. I have always inspired to be a teacher and have held volunteer work experience placements as a tutor within the community.Before entering Graduate school at Youngstown State University, I was fortunate enough to work with adults with disabilities as a part time Support Professional. I have found myself inspired by the challenge of working with individuals with disabilities and often realized their potential and this furthered my decision and commitment to become a teacher in Special Education. Since then, I have worked with Autistic children during summer camps as well as an Instructional Reading Tutor as part of YSU. My specific courses at YSU were Introduction to Exceptionalities, Planning and Programming for Transitions, Characteristics and Behaviors, Behavior Management for Educators, Assessment for Gifted and Exceptional Children and Introduction to Educational Research.I am a highly motivated individual that sets out to achieve attainable goals and be adaptive in new environments. I maintain a positive and constructive attitude towards job detail and adequate education. I have a passion and dedication in helping promote and protect the human rights of individuals with or without intellectual and developmental disabilities while increasing awareness and involving the community in the lives of those who may have exceptional needs.

I have also worked as a writing and reading comprehension tutor, a tutor for learning German as a second language, and a tutor for the GRE. I am a recent graduate of American University in Washington DC. I received my BA in Political Science. Prior to attending college, I graduated from the West Windsor Plainsboro School District, so I understand how stressful and competitive academics can be in and around this area. I tutor several subjects though I am strongest in the humanities particularly in preparation for the AP European/American History exams as well as the AP American Government/Comparative Politics exams. I also offer ACT/SAT Writing, ACT/SAT Reading, SAT Verbal and ACT English tutoring. My approach to tutoring is centered on the belief that nothing is particularly difficult if you just break it down into small parts. For example, things like Advanced Placement tests and standardized tests when viewed as a whole can seem like daunting tasks which require lots of higher order reading, writing, and thinking skills. However, when they are approached question by question and broken down into series of basic tasks, they become much more manageable. In my spare time I enjoy reading, particularly nonfiction books on the areas I tutor in such as history and politics.

I attended Birmingham-Southern College for my undergraduate studies, and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. After working for two years, I attended the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, earning a Ph.D in Genes and Development. My studies there were focused on Immunology, Cancer and Genetics. Since graduation, I have worked in the biotech industry, lectured in Microbiology and am currently doing research on vaccine development.I enjoy one on one teaching, and just discussing science in general. It's always a thrill when the light goes on for someone. I am a follower of all fields of science and technology, and try to incorporate new ideas into my work at all times. In my spare time, I build computers, read history and science fiction and go to movies with my wife.
