I have been a certified teacher for the past 3 years. I have taught 6th, 5th, and now 3rd grade to a wonderful group of students exclusively at Title 1 schools. Before my work as a teacher, I worked on a pilot program with bringing their program into a St. Louis City charter school. Mission "Prove my Parents Wrong": Accomplished.After graduating, I became a licensed therapist, and worked with children and families for about 10 years before making the decision transition to teaching. Now, when confronted about my choice of major, I am afforded the opportunity to engage in a dialogue not only about the field of Psychology in general, but about Industrial and Organizational Psychology and its contributions to the community at large.Learning is a continuous process. Now, organizations are taking it upon themselves to consistently train employees in order to maintain a strategic edge. Learning, however, is not a passive process. Engagement, learner control, learning orientation, situational and individual differences all play a strategic role in the learning process.
