I have recently graduated from St. Matthew's University as a Doctor of Medicine and am currently waiting to enter the 2023 Match Cycle for Residency. I have made my career by studying hard, going to school and overcoming my academic weaknesses. But I wasn't always this strong in academics and I have even needed my fair share of tutors in the past.I struggled with math for a very long time and I worked with many tutors to try and improve. It wasn't until one of my tutors pointed out that my hand writing was too small and my work was sloppily written. By just working on my hand writing and organization I improved significantly in math.I realized that my problem wasn't necessarily understanding the material. There was something else in the way causing me to perform poorly. I gained the ability to identify the barriers to my own learning and appropriately overcome the challenge, resulting in the academic success I enjoy today.When I tutor students, my ultimate goal is not only to help them improve their academics, but also teach them the organizational and study skills they need to identify their barriers and rise to their academic potential.

I have the right strategies to show how it can be simple and fun.I moved to the US 10 years ago and continued studying at University of Phoenix, where I got a Masters Degree in the Administration of Justice and Security.My favorite tutoring subjects are English and Spanish; I have tutored both, making sure that my students are never afraid to communicate in a foreign language.On my spare time, I like to read, going for walks and swimming.I believe that people learn in different ways and at a different pace and that it is a teacher’s duty to plan accordingly.

I recently graduated from Relay School of Education with a master's degree in early childhood education. While studying at Relay, I worked at a charter school in Colorado, teaching lower elementary students. In Colorado, I taught many subjects, but I am most passionate about helping students learn how to read and understand basic math. I have seen the difference small group instruction can make on a student's academic performance and overall attitude towards school. School should be a place you are excited to go to, and sometimes if you struggle in a subject, it can taint the whole experience. I want to foster a love for learning by helping students feel confident in their abilities to read, write, and solve math equations.

I moved to the Big Apple from Pennsylvania with a vast interest in business, specifically marketing which I studied at St. Johns University. However, in light of recent events my career focus has shifted from business to diplomacy and world politics. After leaving St. Johns and completing two years of Business Administration at Queensborough Community College, I entered into the CUNY Baccalaureate Program for Unique and Interdisciplinary Studies as a Politics and Diplomacy major.Being in such a unique, self-driven program, I was able to be exposed to a variety schools (Baruch, Queens, Hunter) and teaching styles. I have been very successful in helping my peers better understand material during and after classes, and want to help other students of all ages better understand politics and global interaction. My goal as a tutor and mentor is to help you overcome whatever challenges you may have, learn about topics not generally broadcast, foster a good relationship, and have fun!

Although I will not say that I am working towards building a legacy, I know that it is an inevitable by-product of living life. I often think of the magnitude of responsibility on my shoulders as an educator and the thousands of learners that my actions will influence over the next 15-20 years, and I'm adamant that my influence will be a positive one. It is my hope to push each student of mine toward being their best adult self. Through their learning experiences with me, they will have a stronger sense of self and good character, curiosity about the world around them, and thirst for knowledge. As a teacher leader, I hope to inspire change in any school culture that I'm a part of by moving the vision of the school forward, building strong teachers to improve their self-efficacy and student learning outcomes, making the experience at school student-centered.My success with student progress towards mastery comes in helping students find something they like about all aspects of learning. What I've found is that once students connect to something they are strong in within a subject, they are more likely to work hard to continue feeling the elation that accompanies being successful. I received my Bachelors from NYU in Music Theory/Composition.For four summers, I worked as a counselor at a computer camp, where I taught students aged 6-11 website design, Scratch programming, and movie making. I've also worked as a Writing Center tutor, and have informally tutored friends in music theory.My teaching philosophy is that one has to want to learn something for its own sake in order to truly get the most value out of it. Whatever I am teaching, I try my best to impart the importance and beauty of the thing itself.
