I have a passion for working with and helping students be successful. I have spent the last 11 years working with mostly middle school students, teaching Math. I earned my Bachelors degree from Illinois State University, my Masters degree from Concordia University, and I am a Nationally Board Certified Teacher. I tutor Math for many different ages. My goal is to help make math easier for students and help them learn to persevere and problems solve when they come across difficult problems. I always try to relate the math to something that my students are interested in to help make the concept as easy as possible.

I graduated in 2014 with a B.A in Economics and minor in Mathematics from Wheaton College, a Christian liberal arts school near Chicago, IL. While in college, I developed a passion for finance and economics. A few of my favorite classes included: Labor Economics, Game Theory, Business Law, and Macroeconomics. I also had the amazing opportunity to participate in a short-term study abroad to the countries of South Africa, Malawi and Ghana. Alongside a few of my professors and fellow Business and Economics classmates, I was able to study the politics and economies of these three developing nations.After graduating from college I joined The Boeing Company as a part of a Leadership Development Program for recent college graduates. In just two years I was able to experience 6 challenging assignments across the company in roles such as: Northeast Asia Sales, Manufacturing Management, Strategy, and Cash Management. I currently work in Financial Planning & Analysis for a subsidiary of Boeing that provides global financing and leasing solutions to Boeing customers.With the goal of heading to business school in the next few years, I have completed the GMAT and continue to grow in my knowledge of business topics such as Accounting, in which I am currently pursuing a professional certificate through the UC Berkeley Extension school.

As a student at Boston University, achieving high academic desires and grades comes with work ethic. I have put countless efforts in taking many approaches in my academic career in a competitive environment. This has helped me understand that memorizing textbooks is not all to it learning, but it is the way of breaking down concepts and integrating it into applicable situations. I want to not only help students learn their desired material, but also to internalize it.I was born in Tokyo, Japan and moved to Honolulu, Hawaii gaining a deep understanding of both cultures. I am bilingual and can read, write, and speak Japanese at high business level. Even now, I constantly study the language because of how complex it is.I am also comfortable and confident in teaching K-12 subjects in math and also introductory college business courses such as financial accounting and introduction to business. I previously tutored math and Japanese in high school and had great time seeing their progression each week.On my downtime, I enjoy hiking the steep mountains of Oahu and body surfing in the warm waters that Hawaii has to offer. My philosophy on teaching is to work through any lessons with practical experience and common examples. I like to make sure that a student does not memorize the procedure to solve an accounting problem, but to make sure that the student can think through the problem.I have a teaching degree as well as a certification in accounting and my MBA. I currently teach at a county college, and have taught at a college level for 15 years. I enjoy teaching, and have always put the student first.I look forward to meeting new students that I can help through accounting so that the student has an appreciation for accounting, and can apply it to their life.

The accounting course includes but is not limited to Financial Accounting, Intermediate Accounting (1 &2), Principles of Accounting (1 &2), and Managerial Accounting.
