I am the graduate of an international bilingual medical school (MD degree). I have a bachelors degree in Biology from Florida International University. I consider myself a strong academic achiever with an excellent track record in the health sciences. I began tutoring in high school for numerous honor societies that range from Math to Spanish. While I can tutor in a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about the sciences, Spanish language/literature, and writing. I have had to pleasure to worth with various individuals from the preschool to the professional school level.

When I began college, I remember struggling with tests and with time management. Being a premedical student from the very beginning meant that I was forced to learn very quickly how to overcome these challenges. My attempts to become a successful student were filled with perseverance, which became the theme of my professional endeavors. After working extremely hard to be accepted into my top choice medical school at Duke University, I again found myself in a situation where I felt under prepared and lost. Through much work and research about study skills, proper test preparation, and test taking strategies, I eventually have reached a level where I am comfortable assessing my own test readiness and how to best strengthen my academic weaknesses. I believe that through my own personal experiences, I have become a stronger life-long learner and I plan to use these skills throughout my career as I plan to stay in academic medicine to further the field of medical education.

I have several years of experience teaching literature, composition, public writing, and business/technical writing, and English as a Second Language. I had a teacher- training course in English for five years, at the High Pedagogic Institute of Foreign Language.My first job after graduation was teaching at the High Pedagogic Institute in Villa Clara, a city located in the central part of Cuba. I used to prepare students who were having a teaching- training course in ESL. After my migration to the USA , I was given the Bachelor Degree in Teaching ESL and Spanish.I have been tutoring and teaching both subjects since that time, but I have also been tutorng k-3 Math.Spanish is my favorite subject to tutor because I was born in a spanish-speaking country, and I feel very confortable with it.My teaching philosophy is based on a communicative approach for teaching languages and a functional approach for teaching Math. I am certified in the state of Florida to teach Middle Grades Mathematics 5-9. I have a bachelors degree in Finance and Masters degree in Sustainable Real Estate Development from Tulane University. I previously worked in real estate for two years prior to moving to Miami and was involved as a mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters for much of that time.

I first started tutoring as a high school student. In order to earn free credit at the local community college, I volunteered to tutor middle school kids as a high schooler. When I went to college, I worked as a peer tutor in the Spanish Langauge lab at my University. I also decided to pursue a career in education.
