I recently graduated from Juanita High School from the Cambridge program and am currently a student at the University of Washington, and am pursuing a bachelor's in architecture. However, seeing as I have just started my college journey, I will only be tutoring French, German, and high school level subjects for the moment. I moved to the United States from Germany around 11 years ago and attended a bilingual French American elementary and middle school. I also attended German lessons outside of school. French and German are my native languages, but I have also completed both the AP German and French exams, as well as the French DELF B2 and the German DSDII C1 level exams, and am ready to help tutor in those subjects. I want to help students not only learn the languages but find a passion in learning about them and the cultures of the countries in which they originated. I strive to help encourage students to discover their learning styles and help them find effective methods for studying.

I spent my last year doing undergraduate research in a cancer research laboratory and have a few publications in the works and one accepted for publication in May. I have spent the last four years becoming an expert in Biology and plan to further my education. I currently work in green energy, specifically on developing technology for the decarbonization of mining and industrial equipment. I received bachelors and masters degrees from the University of Michigan, where I was a graduate student instructor and machine shop trainer. Despite my choice of studies, I have often been frustrated with own my math and science class experiences, and how often I see one bad class/teacher/experience ruin a student's self-confidence or passion. I have the most experience in math and science, but I can also help out with English, introductory Spanish, or test prep. Outside of work, I play ice hockey, volunteer for Seattle's Youth Tutoring Program, read, and occasionally hike/bike/run.

I am an endlessly curious and encouraging person. I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in both Political Science and History from Arizona State University. I had the pleasure of attending Barrett, the Honors College while at ASU. I have worked in the field of public policy and data visualization in Washington D.C. and Seattle. While in Seattle, I became a volunteer tutor with the Boys & Girls Club and discovered my love and passion for education. Whether a student is struggling with material or looking for a greater challenge, I see the whole person and foster curiosity and confidence with students. Outside of tutoring, I study sustainability and make performance and installation art out of trash. The world is an enormous place with lots of work to do. I believe education is a pathway to unlocking the world's magic and improving our ability to contribute positively to other people's lives. While my expertise is in data, history, and policy, I love teaching all subjects.

As a graduate student, and for eight years after, I worked at the University of Florida English Language Institute, UF's intensive English program for international students. At the UF ELI, I taught listening, speaking, reading, writing, grammar, and pronunciation. I have also taught native English-speaking students at UF and Santa Fe College in Gainesville, FL, in both linguistics and beginning English composition.I love teaching. Making connections with my students, getting to know them better, and helping them achieve their goals is so fulfilling for me. I especially love getting to know international students. I am fascinated by other countries, cultures, and languages, and relish the opportunity to connect with students from all corners of the globe.In my free time, I enjoy reading, writing, and spending time with my husband and our two children (ages four and two).
