I'm currently a student studying chemistry at Princeton University.

I am currently a student enrolled in the college of engineering at Penn State University. I am working towards a major in CS and planning to work in the field of cybersecurity. Being a student myself, I can understand how frustrating learning a new and confusing topic can be. My job as a tutor is to help guide others who are struggling with similar experiences that I experienced in the past. My goal is to help anyone who may be having a hard time and hopefully make their academic journey easier than mine.

Hey! My name is Dane Lacey. I'm from the US, but currently studying in Germany. I have over three years of experience teaching and tutoring college-level mathematics. I have two dogs (Sawyer and Joey) and a cat (Kit).My college experience started out taking concurrent enrollment classes while in high school. After I graduated high school, I taught in Zhongshan, China for four months. Then I returned home and finished my A.S. Mathematics at the same community college I took my concurrent classes through in High School. Right after that, I transferred to the University of Utah where I completed my B.S. Applied Mathematics. Now, I am working on a Ph.D. Mathematics while I travel around Europe with my family.I am in love with the beauty of mathematics, and being able to help other people understand it! Being able to use programming to solve math problems is really cool, and being able to use math to solve programming problems is even better. But the absolute best part about my work (and sort of the end goal, in my mind) is being able to use math AND programming together to solve real-world problems and communicate this valuable information to others in an understandable way.

I am a student at Columbia University studying History & American Studies! While in high school, I completed the International Baccalaureate program and took various Advanced Placement courses. At Columbia I have worked with various public defense organizations as an advocate, investigator, and research assistant. I also volunteer as a tutor on campus, in the New York community, and even on Rikers Island. I am passionate about helping students from all backgrounds develop their writing, reading, presentation, and test-taking skills that will translate to all aspects of their education!

I am a certified English Language Arts and Reading teacher looking to work with Elementary, Middle, or High School students. My background focuses on grammar and writing, while I received a reading specialist degree during my Master's studies. I tutor students using reading strategies and spend a lot of my time helping high school and college level students with paper writing/editing.

I am a graduate of Montclair State University. I received my Bachelor of Science in Biology. I took 2 years off after undergrad and then went on to become a PA after graduating from UMDNJ (now Rutger's Physician Assistant Program). Since that time, I worked in OBGYN for 9 years and now I am working in Breast surgery for the past two years. In regards to tutoring, I am most comfortable with Reproductive, which makes up about 7% of the PANCE; but can be helpful in other categories as well. I have had many mid level students and medical students shadow me where I had the opportunity to teach clinically and practically. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, trying new restaurants, dancing and spending time with family and friends.

Being the product of educators that were willing to give of themselves to help me believe in myself. So, my 40 years of of being an educator, I believe that Empathy and structure are the true strengths of building great relationship with students and their families. I must let the students understand that making mistakes is a part of life but being willing to correct the mistakes is rewarding.The students in the past 40 years have become accomplished in many ways, some are attorneys, business owners, writers, musicians, educators. public servants, and some have become great parents. The joy is when they tell me; Thanks for believing in me. I tell them, together we made everything work. I am the product of private and public education with my college life attending William Penn College, a Quaker institution. Once, again I had educators that believed I could accomplish and be a successful teacher. I was given the guidance to be activity with the students at the high school, I student taught at and I maintain contact with them as well.1st Degree is a Bachelor of Arts- Secondary Education-Social Science & Sociology, minor in Theater. 2nd Degree- Master of Arts- Special Education, Behavioral and Emotional Disturbance, University of Missouri-Kansas City. I'm working on ED.D. in Leadership and Innovation, St. Thomas University, Miami Gardens, Florida, pending.History and geography and I can help with reading issues.I love American History, first, and 2nd choice-Geography. I love travel back in time and searching for the answers to the question, WHY. Geography, I just love the idea of students thinking of venturing to other areas to see the beauty of the world, but I also want them to begin with their home state and then visit the states around before going across an ocean.

I have spent the past three years working in Chicago Public Schools, earning my teaching license through The New Teacher Project, and developing my personal teaching style in two diverse schools with very underserved populations of students. Working for Chicago Public Schools for three years has taught me an enormous amount about reaching students who are deemed by many as "unreachable." I want to bring the skills I've learned as a teacher to a wider group of students through Varsity Tutors. Before deciding to get my teaching license, I received my master's degree in music cognition from Goldsmiths College, University of London, where I also worked for a year in an electroencephalography lab. Every day in my classroom I aim to learn as much as teach. Preparing the world's future critical thinkers is a privilege I take very seriously.

I am determined to have my students, no matter their age or ability, achieve their personal best. I thoroughly enjoy the sport, game, and pursuit of learning and teaching, and I am certain that by collaborating with me, learning will be interesting, fun, unforgettable, and valuable. I love teaching Reading, Spanish, and French. My favorite language is Spanish because of its musicality, spirit, and consciousness. My philosophy of teaching is that I must necessarily explore what you like about the subject you are learning, and then amplify that to include all aspects of that subject. I adore watching students fall in love with their latest acquisition of language, and celebrate that to the highest level of their competence. It opens a new window to one's abilities, and also establishes a history of small successes that, in succession, lead to victory.
