The most important thing I've learned from my experience with tutoring and teaching is that energy, ability to connect, and character make a fantastic teacher. During my time in the corporate world, I realized that I had a genuine interest in helping everyone succeed. After some time volunteering with students, I realized that my passion was for helping students succeed. Not necessarily just earning the grades, but developing confidence and motivation to help them through their remaining academic career. After a career transition from engineering to teaching, I have felt more fulfilled than ever before. Using my real world experiences to help students make the "why do I need to learn this" connection is one of my strengths. Seeing the look on a student's face when they have that break through moment is one of the most rewarding experiences I have had in my time with teaching. The best compliment I've received from my students is that I actually take the time to find where the disconnect is and then develop that connection from an established starting point.

Hello there! I am a current undergraduate student at Occidental College, where I am majoring in Chemistry. I have a passion for teaching and engaging students with their education. There is little that is more rewarding than aiding a struggling student successfully. In high school, I was a member of the National Honors Society and relished the opportunities that organization provided me to tutor others. I love learning, and I love sharing that with others. What better way to engage others learning than tutoring?I enjoy video games and other computer related tasks, baseball, basketball, and I love to read.

I am completing my Pre-Health Certificate at Cal State Fullerton with the hopes of applying to medical school. I currently work as a tutor in the College of Natural Science and Mathematics, where I've helped dozens of students in general Chemistry, Biology, Physics, and Organic Chemistry. The student body at CSUF is very diverse, and I am extremely comfortable working with students from a wide variety of backgrounds. Additionally, I'm well versed in preparation for all health professions school exams. In high school, I also tutored extensively in Biology, Mathematics, History, and English. I finished high school with a 4.80 GPA, which put me in the top 1% of my graduating class. I earned outstanding scores on multiple Advanced Placement tests and the SAT. My consistently high levels of academic achievement are due to my dedication and solid study habits, and I know I will be able to impart my passion and dedication to any student I tutor. Before deciding to pursue a career in medicine, I graduated from the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley and worked in the Transaction Services division of Ernst & Young, a "Big 4" accounting firm. While I no longer work in the business world, I believe this experience has imparted me with a greater level of maturity and perspective than the average college student.

After graduating from Westivew High School, I attended UC Davis for a year, studying mechanical engineering. I am currently at a junior college with the intention of transferring to a different 4 year university. I have been tutoring math, science, and test preparation for 4 years for students of all ages. I am strongest in high level math, which is my favorite subject to tutor as well.My teaching style involves guiding the student through exercises instead of just showing them how to complete them. This way, they are more engaged in the tutoring session and are able to get more out of it.Outside of school and tutoring I enjoy playing soccer, going to the beach, and mountain biking.

I am a recent Computer Science, B.S. graduate of San Jose State University. I have most of my experience tutoring Pre-Calculus and am able teach other areas of math such as Middle School Math, Algebra I, II, III/IV, and Calculus I and II as well as Computer Science. My favorite subject to tutor is Pre-Calculus because I know that involves a diverse mixed bag of math subjects that students really appreciate the help with.My hobbies are programming, game development and gaming. If you like either of those, I like giving examples of how math is applied there.

"Why do we need math?", would have to be my favorite question to answer. As an undergraduate of mathematics at UCLA, my fascination with math would be in how it presents itself in every area of study. I have been tutoring peers since my third year in high school and I never tire of it. I enjoy it when I lead students towards that "a-ha" moment where everything connects and they achieve a better understanding of the subject. I have been tutoring college math, algebra (1 and 2), calculus throughout high school and college. I like to think of my job as making myself obsolete by giving my students the tools needed to excel in their academics. Along with my passion for academics, I also have strong interests in fitness, music, traveling, art and philosophy.

I would be honored to provide you with tutoring services in Math, Science, English, Essay Writing, or Test Preparation. My love of teaching/tutoring, my ability to explain difficult concepts in an easy-to-understand manner, as well as my deep understanding of aforementioned subjects have allowed for my students over the last 10 years of tutoring to excel. (Being the son of two teachers probably doesn't hurt either!) My goal is to not only give your student the skills necessary to excel in the particular tutoring subject, but also see real-world application of the material. Since I am a Mechanical Engineer currently working in the Aerospace industry, I have examples of how Math, Science and even Writing skills are vital to solving everyday problems. When tutoring, my goal is to truly get to know the student and make the material relevant to his/her life. For example, I would try to incorporate your student's interests into a Math or Science problem in order to make the problem personal. While I love tutoring all subjects, tutoring Math is definitely my favorite! Throughout my tutoring experiences I have tutored students from a wide variety of cultural and religious backgrounds, and I have enjoyed each and every experience! If your student is either struggling or exceling, but would like to delve deeper into Math, Science, English, or Test Preparation, then I would love to help your student meet his/her full potential!

School takes up anywhere from 30-70% of a student's waking life, and there is no reason anyone should feel subpar or inadequate for that vast amount of time. I completed my undergraduate coursework at the University of California, San Diego, where I graduated cum laude with a major in Literature in English and a minor in General Biology, so whether you're an aspiring engineer struggling with poetry, or a future novelist grappling with coordinate geometry, I'm on your wavelength. In college I was a classroom volunteer tutor for the Preuss Charter School in San Diego, and I've been working for nearly two years now as a professional tutor, and have thorough experience with a range of subjects and standardized test formats. I also write pop culture articles on the side, and aspire to be a college professor of literature; consequently, I most enjoy teaching English and composition, and pride myself on being able to break down essay-writing to its most fundamental, obvious-as-peanuts basics. When I am not saving children from the abyss of school-related anxiety, I indulge in film photography, kung fu movies, and guitar.
