I am a Doctoral student at the University of Washington in the department of Public Health Genetics. I study how people respond differently to medications because of their genes. As a result, I spend a lot of time thinking about Biology, Chemistry, Statistics, and Policy. I love to teach and work with the Pacific Science Center as a Communication Fellow.I attended Stanford University for both my Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Biology, with a minor in Chemistry. While there, I researched the immune system and how asthma and allergies develop. After college I managed a summer camp where I developed my love of working with people and the mountains. In my free time, I can be found hiking, backpacking, and snowboarding.

I attended Boston College as a Biology/ Pre-med major, but also studied Russian Culture and Literature. After working in a lab in Boston for several years studying the molecular mechanisms of cancer, I decided to further my education in graduate school, exploring a new scientific direction. I recently completed my Ph.D. studies in Neuroscience at The University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester. My thesis investigated the neural circuitry and neurotransmitter systems underlying food-reward learning using fruit flies.While trained in neurobiology and genetics, I've always had a passion for everything science, from all aspects of biology to chemistry and even theoretical physics and cosmology. I've also always been fascinated in history, from ancient civilizations to European history through modern day U.S. History.I've tutored students across a range of ages and experience. I've mentored several local high school students in their science projects, two of which went on to win awards at the regional competition. I mentored a group of first-year graduate students in the UMass Biomedical Sciences Curriculum. In lab, I've instructed and mentored many incoming lab mates from undergraduate technicians to post doctoral fellows.When I'm not in the lab, I can usually be found playing guitar and songwriting with my band, listening to new music, hitting the slopes on my snowboard or just spending a night in cooking interesting new dishes or baking bread.My goal is to always engage my students on their level and get them as excited about the subject matter as I am. I often brought home mice, birds and insects to study their behavior more closely.During my high school education I was more focused on Biology subject than other subjects due to my childhood interests in the things related to life. After completing my 12 year education I pursued my educational career in life sciences and did my Bachelors in Biochemistry followed my Masters in Molecular Biology. Due to interests in life sciences I became able to publish three (3) international publications in the field of Biological sciences. After that I started my Doctoral degree in Microbiology and Molecular Genetics and currently I am working on "bioplastic producing bacteria".I like teaching as a profession and I take it as my hobby. I have many relatives related to teaching profession. I started teaching when I was an undergraduate student. I taught Biology to high school students. During my PhD coursework I taught microbiology related courses to undergraduate students for one year. Now I am working with San Jacinto College Central, Pasadena, TX as Microbiology instructor. That is why I want to pursue my professional career as a professor of Biology.
