My hometown is St. Charles, MO and I recently graduated from the University of Missouri with a BS in Chemistry. I was employed by the university as a science tutor for my last 2 years. I enjoy establishing relationships with people who are motivated to become better students and show a willingness to learn. My main subject is chemistry, but I am also able to tutor biology and mathematics. My tutoring methods are pretty straightforward -- I will do my best to explain material in a way that is easy to understand, but I will encourage students to work problems on their own to prove they have in fact learned the material.I have tutored 10 students individually and been evaluated as having "outstanding" knowledge, organization, communication skills, attitude and overall tutoring ability. They have said that "he is thoroughly helpful and explains concepts in great detail", he models "good study methods and strategies", and he "describes equations and provides tips to solve them faster on tests."While I may specialize in tutoring intro level college chemistry and high school chemistry, my main goal is to help students develop efficient study methods and time management skills that can be implemented in any class they take. Together, we can make science and math easier to understand. Let's get to it!

After growing up in Minnesota, I attended and subsequently graduated from Grinnell College with a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry and Spanish. During college, I tutored students in Chemistry as well as worked at an on-campus coffee shop. I participated in a semester-long study abroad program in Ecuador, spending time in Quito and also completing a 6-week long internship with a midwife in a small indigenous village in Otavalo. After graduation, I moved to Louisville to pursue a Master's in teaching (MAT) while working as a Chemistry teacher. I have completed coursework towards an ESL endorsement through the University of Louisville as well, and am very passionate about providing individualized instruction that matches diverse student needs. I recently moved home to the Twin Cities to be near my family I find that breaking up difficult content, like Chemistry, into more achievable chunks often helps students feel more confident about their progress and allows them to visualize success. I, personally, enjoy reading, spending time outdoors, and walking my dog Lily.
