I am a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis, where I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History & Archaeology with a secondary major in History. I focused on medieval art and history and wrote my senior thesis on the Byzantine Basilica of San Vitale in Ravenna, Italy. Currently I am a Masters student in Art History at Southern Methodist University. Throughout my undergraduate education, I have taught and tutored children in various ways. My junior year of college I was a religious school teacher for First Graders. During the summer of 2012, I was an intern at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, at the Cloister's Museum and Gardens (which is a part of the Medieval Department). Throughout the summer, I led five to six, one hour tours throughout the galleries, teaching students from the ages of five to eighteen, all about medieval art. Additionally, I was inducted into Mortar Board National College Senior Honor Society my senior year of college. One of Mortar Board's missions is to help promote literacy. My chapter of the honor society worked with InspireSTL, a St. Louis based tutoring program, which places talented low-income middle school students into the region's top college-prep high schools and supports their ongoing academic progress, offering them a wide range of tutoring and financial assistance. As a group, we helped tutor the students several times a week. Working with InspireSTL I was asked to tutor a very wide range of subjects - everything from geometry to history to biology, to being asked to set up an impromptu grammar and sentence diagramming class! While I love the subjects of History and English, and have tutored and taught most subjects, I have realized that Standardized Test preparation is one of the most important steps in your education. With the right mentality and training, those tests can be an easy stepping-stone into the college of your dreams. I love learning and teaching and strongly believe that everyone deserves a world-class education, and I hope to be able to instill that desire in my students. In my spare time, when I am not in school or reading for my classes, I enjoy relaxing, doing yoga, playing tennis, and cooking - all of which re-energize me and get me ready for the next day!

I am a two-time graduate of the University of Oklahoma. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a focus in Military Science and Constitutional Studies in 2015. I recently received my Master's in Adult and Higher Education in December of 2021. I have been avidly involved in residence life through collegiate housing for about 5 years now. I am now an Army veteran with 8 years of completed service time where I served as an HR Officer gaining proficiency in Microsoft Office especially Excel, Word and PowerPoint.My tutoring experience ranges from tutoring my younger siblings to collegiate youth and adults. I have experience working with student-athletes as I served as a housing coordinator for OU Athletics. I have been tutoring via Varsity Tutors for a year now and, while I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about English Language and Literature, Spanish, US/World History and Government. I have been studying Spanish since the 6th grade and I was minoring in it in college until I changed my degree path so I can tutor up to about a Spanish 2 or 3 level. I enjoy classic literature and read for fun in my free time.I am a firm proponent of education, believing it to be absolutely necessary for an improved quality of life. I try to impart this appreciation to all of my students. My parents instilled in me at an early age that knowledge is power. For the former, I've had a letter to the editor published in the New York Times, successfully finished a 40-page thesis as part of my undergraduate education, and currently write for Ordinary Times, a group blog whose alumni have gone on to write full-time for Forbes, the Atlantic, and other prestigious publications. For the latter, I scored in the 98th percentile of the LSAT and achieved admission to a a top-25 law school with a generous scholarship.It's tremendously fulfilling to see students grow as writers and as thinkers as they progress through a curriculum, something I am very fortunate to witness. Over my undergraduate career I have tutored many different students ranging from grades 4-12 as well as several college classes. I have always loved being able to work with a student or colleague to find the right answer of a difficult question. I tutor math (Calculus, Geometry, Trigonometry, Algebra) as well as SAT math, English, and science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Biochemistry). I really enjoy tutoring math and English! Math always has an answer to work towards and can be taught using various mediums. English is also a favorite subject of mine as I love to read and write and love reading the works of others. I like to tutor subjects by working through problems with students and practicing problems. Outside of academics, I enjoy hiking and have almost finished half of the Appalachian trail. Growing up in Huber Heights, Ohio set a foundation for international travel that was sparked by community pride and local service projects. Graduating from Miami University of Ohio in 2003 was only the start of a wonderful exploration of further learning. My preliminary Bachelor of Arts Degree in Speech Communications would open the door to job positions with Walt Disney World that ultimately led me to continue my education in China. For me to pursue my international passion to travel I received a Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL) certificate from Oxford Seminars. Teaching English in China would also be accompanied by an additional online course from Columbia University Teachers College. These online modules were specifically designed to educate Asian children. I learned so many skills that I use to this day when tutoring students in English.As a humanitarian aid worker and English as a Second Language teacher once living in South Africa, Taiwan, and China it only is fitting to compare my real-life experiences with scholarly studies to better understand the systems that make environments. It would be an honor and privilege to tutor you in English. The international community interests me and further provides real life learning. My background and long-term goals are a good fit for you.
