I graduated from University of Illinois at Chicago where I received a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience and a minor in Chemistry. In terms of teaching experience, I tutored Organic Chemistry at the Math and Science Learning Center at UIC and taught Arabic and STEM courses to young students privately. In the past I've been a helping aid to teachers who taught in the ESL program where I worked with students to strengthen their Reading, Writing, and Mathematics skills. I am most passionate about Organic Chemistry although I enjoy teaching all other sciences as well. In my experience helping college students with Organic Chemistry, expressing complex ideas in a couple sentences or diagrams is the most rewarding part of my work since it yields the most excited responses. I am a firm believer in the 'growth mindset,' where a topic deemed difficult is one that will become easy with practice and understanding. Recently returning from an incredible year living and working in Madrid, Spain, I'm looking to continue teaching Spanish and English to those who are motivated to learn. I began providing trumpet lessons at a young age, and then continued teaching privately in university in Microsoft Access and Microsoft Excel. I have the skills and experience to teach Algebra, as well. I enjoy incorporating fun games and activities into my academic lessons, aiming to shine a different and more exciting light on learning for my students.I am upbeat and energetic people-pleaser, always looking for the next opportunity to meet people and learn new skills. I graduated cum laude from Vanderbilt University majoring in Biomedical Engineering. I'm passionate about teaching STEM topics and making sure my students truly understand the material. I have 4 years experience teaching and tutoring elementary, middle, high school, and college students in STEM topics through a program called VSVS. Looking forward to meeting you!

My desire to become a tutor began after a tutor of mine personally changed by life. The general perception people have of tutors is that they are just intelligent individuals with expertise in certain areas who lecture those who do not fully understand yet. In my case, my tutor helped shape the way I see tutoring and learning itself. When I was younger I personally struggled with many subjects. My tutor was very patient with me and followed my pace and asked questions that would improve my critical thinking. Most importantly, however, she never got frustrated with me no matter how many times I had to go through certain concepts. These characteristics she exhibited has guided me to develop my tutoring philosophy Learn first, teach after."Tutoring has been a significant part of my life since I started high school. I began tutoring right away in the 9th grade to help others understand and gain valuable experience. As I moved closer to senior year I began tutoring nearly every subject to become a more holistic tutor. Senior year arrived and I was thrilled for two reasons college applications and having the opportunity to tutor all grade levels in various areas of academia. Senior year was amazing and I was blessed with being the only student who had over 100 tutoring sessions that year. I credit this success to my tutoring style, which involves asking the right questions and putting myself in the tutees state of mind and never being afraid of going slower to help the individual learn. Tutoring is not about teaching what you know it is about guiding someone through a learning experience.
