Hi, My name is Bonita Hall and I am currently a Sophomore Physics/Math student at the University of Texas at Austin.

I have a Master's degree in Public Health and Tropical Medicine from Tulane University and a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science from Texas A&M University. I am currently working on my teacher's certificate and am certified to teach life sciences for grades 7-12 in the state of Texas. I have taken all the prerequisites necessary for teaching and have a probationary teaching license from the state of Texas. I know how important tutoring can be in helping a student improve his or her grades and confidence. I have dyslexia/dysgraphia and benefited from tutoring when I was in school. Because of my learning disability, I understand that each student has a unique learning style. In the past, I tutored students from elementary school up to college. I have a love for science, teaching and tutoring, and look forward to working with individual students and helping them to reach their potential.

I'm a recent graduate from The University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering (Hook 'em Horns!). I've been involved with teaching K-12 for 3 years now during my college career and have had a passion for teaching ever since my first job in high school at a math tutoring company. I scored well on both the SAT and the ACT thanks to many prep courses for the SAT and adequate prep materials for the ACT. In high school, my favorite subjects were by far Math, Biology and Spanish, and I made sure to apply my love for those subjects through studying Biomedical Engineering with a Spanish minor. I have also scored well on the MCAT in hopes of going to medical school someday.My personal philosophy with teaching focuses on being personable. I'm still a child at heart and I believe that I should not have to sacrifice professionalism for having a silly personality. I also believe that being a tutor involves being relatable to my students and being understanding of both failure and success. There were many times that I failed in high school and college, and I am not afraid to tell my stories to help motivate my students. I also believe in breaking down concepts as much as possible and trying my best to understand how others understand concepts. I'm a UH senior right now (majoring in political science), and I'm planning to go to law school next fall. I enjoy reading, puzzles, and musicals about Treasury Secretary Alexander Hamilton.I went to Hunters Creek Elementary, Kinkaid Middle School, and Kinkaid High School, before traveling to Georgia for two years at Emory University. After receiving an Associate's in Arts, I returned home to Houston to finish my degree at UH; it was there I discovered I didn't just not hate politics, I was actively fascinated by them. Thus, my plans to become an evil scientist working undercover at the CDC were thwarted by a latent preoccupation with government. Stuff happens, I guess.I have tutored middle school math and English, as well as introductory college and advanced high-school math and English. I have excellent test scores and great patience.

I am a former junior high and high school teacher, with undergraduate degrees in English and Spanish and a Master's degree in Education. I have a distinct passion for helping students perform beyond their perceived potential, so that they are able to thrive within their educational environments. My objective as both teacher and tutor, is to first identify the root cause(s) of any confusion or difficulty, and then to develop a method, suited to the needs of the individual student, for reconstructing understanding in a way that makes sense. Furthermore, my intention is always to instruct with sustainability in mind, so that regardless of how a classroom teacher might present a concept, a student will be able to apply what was learned during our time together.
