I enjoy tutoring English and Spanish the most because it helps in so many ways with grammar, public speaking, and using it properly in conversations. My teaching philosophy is that I gear towards all types of learners whether they be auditory, visual, or kinesthetic. I have a variety of interests such as playing sports like volleyball and basketball. Also, I like to walk, work out, spend time with my family, scrapbooking, and going shopping. I really love tutoring and sharing my love of learning with other people. I've tutored middle school students for a year and I love it. My students and I usually meet 1-3 times a week and they have all made significant positive changes in test scores and overall understanding of a variety of subjects. I am patient, encouraging, and friendly. I understand that each individual learns differently and I tailor my lessons to each student.My hobbies are exploring downtown Phoenix, playing sports, making art, and listening to music. I have a cocker spaniel named Ranger and a chronic french fry craving, for which the only cure is french fries. My favorite author is Fyodor Dostoevsky and I'm about to begin pursuing degrees in Art and English at Hillsdale College in Michigan. I hope to meet you soon!

Educating students for over 10 years has been a privilege. Particularly gratifying is the opportunity to witness my pupils progress in mathematics. After teaching math for nearly a decade, I completed my graduate work last year in Educational leadership with a follow up credential in administration. In the past, my students in mathematics routinely have returned to visit, sharing their continued successes following what was learned as a member of my classroom. I want to continue to help children "get it" as they are called on to rise to new heights in an increasingly competitive academic and occupational climate. I have decided to continue within the Varsity Tutors platform with the goal of increasing the scope of students I can assist in their math skills development.

I firmly believe that there isn't anything you cannot learn! I have tutored at many levels including elementary and high school. I was also a Teacher's Assistant at the college level. I have worked with many students including special needs children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Oppositional Defiance Disorder and some emotionally disturbed children. I have experience in the medical microbiology lab at the Hawaii Department of Health and a virology research lab at University of Hawaii at Manoa. I love Microbiology and Spanish! I have been studying Spanish language and linguistics for the past ten years, and combined with my Hispanic background I have been able to successfully complete a competitive interpreter training course at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. During my time at Clark, I focused extensively on intercultural communication, international affairs and development, policy, education, and diving into economics.
