I am a recent graduate of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry. Since graduation, I joined the Rhode Island Teaching Fellows where I had the opportunity to work towards a teaching certificate and begin my journey in the classroom. I spent the past year teaching 10th and 11th grade students life science and chemistry.Outside of academia, I enjoy going for long runs. I used to be a sprinter while I was still in school and decided to take on the new challenge of long distance running. I also enjoy various other activities such as kayaking, indoor rock climbing and running off to amusement parks as often as possible. Additionally, I am an avid reader and am always looking for a good book to read on a typical afternoon.My teaching philosophy revolves around breaking content down as much as possible so that all students can understand. I graduated from SJC in 2015.While at St. Joseph's, I gathered experience in the classroom, both as a teacher of the required freshman composition class, as well as a tutor in the school's ACES program. The ACES program caters to international students or students who speak English as a non-primary language. Over the course of my tenure at SJC, I realized that the personal and direct education of the tutor and tutee relationship agrees more with my teaching style than the more generalized teaching in the classroom. I decided to focus on tutoring.I have recently relocated to Providence with my wife and young son, and I am eager to begin a new era in my career in this city.

In an educational climate increasingly reliant on the power of the scantron, I believe that learning should exist beyond the small, graphite-dark bubbles that are as dull as the knowledge they are supposedly able to convey is exciting. I'm an electrical engineering major at Brown University with interests in neuroscience, linguistics, and robotics, among other things. I've always loved learning, and my curiosity has led me through numerous subject areas. I constantly seek to apply my classroom learning in practical situations. For example, I have conducted research on dementia using electrophysiology in a mollusk model. I participate in hackathons and robotics challenges that test not only my programming ability but also my hardware skills as a tinkerer. My engineering pursuits require a strong foundation in mathematics, my interest in the life sciences calls for a myriad of memorization techniques, and my participation in the academic world at large reminds me daily of the importance of sharp writing skills. I hope to share some of these things, both content and technique, with my students. Though I will make sure that they can come away from each session armed with the skills needed to take on the modern education system, I also hope that they will take with them some appreciation for learning itself.
