I did my undergrad at West Virginia University, where I majored in History and minored in German and Math.I've had a passion for education since i graduated high school. During my gap semester, I worked alongside my high school statistics teacher in his math classrooms and fell in love! From there I tutored throughout college with a variety of organizations, working with at-risk high school students, university athletes, and students with disabilities.I enjoy tutoring math courses the most. I struggled with math in high school and got lots of help. Once I did, my confidence and interest grew to the point I studied it in college. So it's really rewarding for me to help others grow in the subject as well. I have had the opportunity to ensure the quality of silver and gold, plate silicon with conductive metals, and develop test procedures for lithium ion batteries. This sparked my interest in tutoring, and the year after I graduated I tutored student athletes at the university in English, History and Mythology classes.I believe that all students are highly capable, they just need the proper tools to gain the confidence to succeed. Some students simply don't have all the information they need to do something well, but this doesn't mean that they are automatically "bad" at reading or writing papers. I try to help students develop the skills they need so that they can move forward with confidence and continue to improve.I have been reading my whole life, and I have done a lot of creative writing, so I have a great love of words. I am particularly fond of Shakespeare (although there are a lot of students who don't agree with me!) but I also have experience reading other European and American literature. My history experiences covers Europe, America, and Latin America, although I have a special fondness for Tudor England (think Henry VIII and his wives), early American history, and classical cultures, like ancient Rome. I think that everybody can develop a love for history, they just need to approach it in the right way!
