I obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a minor in Spanish from Grand Valley State University! I am currently getting a Master's of Social Work at the University of Illinois at Chicago. I offer tutoring in any level of Spanish and for various Psychology topics!When I was studying abroad in Spain for a semester I tutored some kids in English by helping them learn grammar and work on improving their conversational English. I also tutored basic Spanish speaking skills for a 12 week program to help people feel comfortable communicating with others in Spanish. Learning Spanish not only helps you to be more competitive for jobs, but also helps connect you with more people! I love teaching languages because it's one more way people can learn how to communicate with others in a variety of settings and locations. I graduated in 2020 and since then have worked with many students online from around the world, teaching subjects in English as a Second Language. One of my favorite success stories is when I helped prepare a client for a job interview and he was chosen for the position out of 700 candidates. He was nervous that his English was not strong enough so we practiced his answers so that he felt confident and prepared during the interview. In addition to this student, I have experience preparing students for ESL exams such as TOEFL and IELTS and use resources such as practice exams. Also, I have worked with students to improve their conversation skills, through casual and formal conversation. Seeing students improve their speaking week by week makes me feel proud as a tutor. In addition, I have helped students with their writing, such as essays and poetry. My favorite subject to teach is writing because I love seeing a student's idea down on paper and expressed the way they had it in their mind. As a teacher, my philosophy is to inspire students to become confident through gaining the language skills they are seeking. My tutoring style is student-centered and I adapt my lessons based on what each student needs.Outside of teaching, I am a mom, which has taught me patience and adaptability, important skills as a tutor, especially when a student struggles with learning a concept. I graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a B.S. in Molecular and Cellular Biology. During my undergraduate years I was able to take honors courses designated to my major, where I gained a deeper understanding of concepts behind biological processes. I am currently in the process of applying to medical school. The subjects in which I am most proficient are biology, chemistry, and biochemistry. I understand that there are many ways to learn a subject, and I look forward to the opportunity to figure out what learning style works best for each student.

I received my Bachelor of Arts from Northeastern Illinois University in Middle-Level Education and Elementary Education, with minors in TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language) and Math and Science Concepts. I am designated as "highly qualified" by the state of Illinois to teach mathematics, science, social sciences, and language arts. I believe that math is the "language of the universe", and it is imperative that all students can communicate mathematically. I have also tutored in some capacity for the last 15 years and have significant experience working with gifted students, English Learners, and remote instruction.

I have worked with them on their college essay personal statements, AP English classes, and I've helped them to improve and edit their writing assignments.As an ardent Francophile, my favorite subject to tutor is French. Although, with my background and interest in creative writing, I enjoy helping students with any and all writing assignments, from college essays to history papers. I like to incorporate my personal experiences with French and with writing into my tutoring sessions because I believe that small connections can help students to remember and retain a lesson.
