I obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a minor in Spanish from Grand Valley State University! I am currently getting a Master's of Social Work at the University of Illinois at Chicago. I offer tutoring in any level of Spanish and for various Psychology topics! When I was studying abroad in Spain for a semester I tutored some kids in English by helping them learn grammar and work on improving their conversational English. I also tutored basic Spanish speaking skills for a 12 week program to help people feel comfortable communicating with others in Spanish. Learning Spanish not only helps you to be more competitive for jobs, but also helps connect you with more people! I love teaching languages because it's one more way people can learn how to communicate with others in a variety of settings and locations. I love seeing the moment when people go from learning no Spanish to being able to understand even a simple sentence. That acknowledgement and realization that they have learned something new is very inspiring for me!I want to help you learn the best way that works for you. Some people are more visual learners, others more auditory, and others are more hands on. We will work together to see what works best for you!Outside of tutoring, I enjoy running and reading books to wind down after a long day!

I am a graduate of California State University, Fullerton where I received my Bachelor of Arts in Journalism. I graduated in 2020 and since then have worked with many students online from around the world, teaching subjects in English as a Second Language. I am passionate about teaching because I love to help students learn and grow confident in a subject. One of my favorite success stories is when I helped prepare a client for a job interview and he was chosen for the position out of 700 candidates. He was nervous that his English was not strong enough so we practiced his answers so that he felt confident and prepared during the interview. In addition to this student, I have experience preparing students for ESL exams such as TOEFL and IELTS and use resources such as practice exams. Also, I have worked with students to improve their conversation skills, through casual and formal conversation. Seeing students improve their speaking week by week makes me feel proud as a tutor. In addition, I have helped students with their writing, such as essays and poetry. My favorite subject to teach is writing because I love seeing a student's idea down on paper and expressed the way they had it in their mind. As a teacher, my philosophy is to inspire students to become confident through gaining the language skills they are seeking. My tutoring style is student-centered and I adapt my lessons based on what each student needs.Outside of teaching, I am a mom, which has taught me patience and adaptability, important skills as a tutor, especially when a student struggles with learning a concept. In my free time, I love a good cup of coffee, baking, running, and dancing.

I graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a B.S. in Molecular and Cellular Biology. During my undergraduate years I was able to take honors courses designated to my major, where I gained a deeper understanding of concepts behind biological processes. I am currently in the process of applying to medical school. The subjects in which I am most proficient are biology, chemistry, and biochemistry. I understand that there are many ways to learn a subject, and I look forward to the opportunity to figure out what learning style works best for each student.

As a degreed engineer from the University of Illinois, math and science have always been my passion. And since I was 16 years old as a high school sophomore, I have also enjoyed sharing knowledge with others. I was part of the peer tutoring program at my high school, and during college, I tutored fellow students in math and science classes.More specifically, I specialize in high school and college-level math/science courses: algebra, geometry, trigonometry, pre-calculus, calculus, physics and chemistry. Test prep for ACT, SAT, GMAT and GRE are also included. I'm extremely patient and will always take the time to ensure students understand the concepts in a way that is clear to them.I'm available to meet anywhere my students would like, whether it be their home, coffee shop or local library. I look forward to hearing from you and helping you achieve your best!

I am so excited about the opportunity to help students of all ages connect to their own passions for learning, in any subject. I look forward to accompanying students through any challenges that stand in the way of that connection and leading students to their own version of success. I've worked across various sectors and have always maintained a love for one-on-one teaching, especially working with children and teaching languages. My experience includes living, working, and traveling abroad, and I rely on this intercultural perspective when presenting language and social studies lessons. I am particularly adept at grammar, editing, and writing and can help students in the early phases of learning reading and self-expression. I look forward to joining in your learning journey!

AP French Language and Culture Tutor • +9 Subjects
I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Global Studies with a minor in Creative Writing. I took French courses throughout college. In the Fall of 2013, I studied abroad in Montpellier, France. While there, I lived with a French host family, studied French language and literature at a French language institute, and also enrolled part-time at a local French university. While I was there, I volunteered as a Teaching Assistant for English classes at a high school.I also have experience tutoring high school seniors. I have worked with them on their college essay personal statements, AP English classes, and I've helped them to improve and edit their writing assignments. As an ardent Francophile, my favorite subject to tutor is French. Although, with my background and interest in creative writing, I enjoy helping students with any and all writing assignments, from college essays to history papers. I like to incorporate my personal experiences with French and with writing into my tutoring sessions because I believe that small connections can help students to remember and retain a lesson. I am a firm believer that every student has his or her own learning style, and that it is my role as a Tutor to specifically address those individual needs to maximize a student's learning and growth. In my spare time, I enjoy reading and writing, going to concerts, cooking, spending time with my family, and studying French.
