I currently attend medical school, getting my Master's in Surgical Assisting and I received my undergraduate degrees in Biology and Philosophy from Virginia Wesleyan College. My interest in the subjects that most students have difficulty with makes what I have to offer essential. Being able to teach a student to have an understanding of the work given to them so that they can be successful in any educational subject is one of the most rewarding things I have done in life. The fundamentals of subjects are what I have the capability to teach so that students will forever have a complete understanding.In my free time I love to draw or play basketball. I was a collegiate athlete so I like to stay active now that I am no longer playing basketball at a competitive level. I also love animals so I am either playing with my fianc's dog Peaches or visiting my family to spend time with them and the family pets Diesel, Diamond, and Reign.

In my undergraduate career, I served as a tutor in photography and biology. I realized my love for helping other students learn when I would always find myself leading study sessions for upcoming tests with my classmates both in high school and in college. My motivation:I love the feeling of when "something clicks", and I want to help other people achieve that feeling. To me, tutoring is fun and rewarding.Why I think I'm a great tutor:I'm not one of those geniuses you had in class that gets everything instantly. I've been in the place of a normal student. I know that creative perspective and hard work are key for understanding math. To get to the graduate level in math I was forced to look at basic topics from different perspectives. This gives me incite into the difficulty students sometime have picking up concepts. I've been there. So, I aim create interest in the subject and provide different ways to look at the subject matter.My personality:I'm really easy going and try to find the humor in everything. I played sports (football and baseball) all throughout my childhood, and spent a few years in the Navy (honorably discharged). I love reading sci-fi, I love the outdoors, and I love anything positive really.

At Virginian Wesleyan, I was afforded the opportunity to complete my Spanish language requirements by living in Puebla, Mexico for a summer, while attending the University of Madera.Prior to graduating, I was offered a contract to teach Social Studies for Norfolk Public Schools, and have enjoyed a rewarding career as a seventh-grade classroom Teacher. I have taught gifted and learning disabled students in a regular classroom setting. Some rewarding teaching experiences have happened as I formed and directed "Ladies First", an after-school program to encourage girls to gain the knowledge and expertise in becoming young ladies. I brought in positive female role models such as two university female presidents and a model agency, although we also were involved in community, and charitable work as well. In addition, I led a course of Court Room Law for middle school, where our team won the competition in the district. Another joy in my life has been teaching Introductory Debate for the STEM program for Gifted students for the College of William & Mary. I firmly believe that we must continue to encourage our students to become world citizens by including current events, primary source documents, foreign languages, and oral debate in the classroom.In my spare time, I can be found out doors, in the park, kayaking, canoeing, and attending concerts and art shows. My favorite way to spend my time is with my family and friends, but most importantly my two-year old grandson.

I have experience teaching and tutoring English at both the high school and college level. I really enjoy helping students develop their writing skills and helping them become comfortable with academic writing. I believe tutoring is so helpful because it allows methods of teaching to be tailored and varied for individual students.

I'm 24 years young and I currently works in Taxation at Cherry Bekaert and I'm finishing my bachelors in accounting this December. I've been in the business of education since I was in 6th grade and finally started getting paid for it nearly 3 years ago. Throughout my undergraduate career, I've had the chance to tutor and mentor lower level college students in the areas of College Algebra and Computer Programming. I love the feeling you get when you're able to develop students and teach them to solve problems that they otherwise couldn't understand. I believe building a relationship with students will make them more comfortable with you and better receptive to your teaching method. In my free time, I love to play video games, workout, play sports and try new activities. I'm able to build strong bonds with students using any of those activities, or any activity that the student may like as well. I have had a lot of success with this method and would love the chance to assist anyone who needs it!

With a firm base of almost 40 years, I have taught, tutored, explored, translated, interpreted the Spanish and English languages along with the cultures associated with them. My joy comes from the study of linguistics which is like a science game piecing all the parts of the language into one larger section. Since any language is forever changing, based on the needs of the people who use it, it is a dynamic study - one which you never grow weary of studying. I have taught Pre-K up through Undergraduate and Post-Graduate but always seek students who are eager to learn. And if you only require improvement of your understanding, I believe my enthusiasm will be contagious! I have worked for other tutoring companies, taught at Michigan State University - Undergraduate Spanish and Portuguese, all levels of elementary through high school, have developed my own curriculum for all levels and have taught home-schooled groups. I lived in Brazil for a year with an American Field Service scholarship program with a Brazilian family in Sao Paulo. I have also traveled through Mexico. I have lived in Hawaii and lived in five states and passed through many more. As you can see, I have enjoyed traveling. I am proud to have graduated with a B.S. from Georgetown University in Languages and Linguistics. My tutoring style is one where I try to adapt to the interests and personality of the student. My outside interests (although related) include studies of the early Spanish explorers into South America and into the worlds of the Incan and Mayan Empires. I also love pets and all animals.
