Learning isn't always easy; in fact it's often uncomfortable. This means it's possible to find meaning even in classes we hate or the ones we think we are bad at. For this reason, I hope to work with learners who might be uncertain about their interests and futures.

I recently graduated Medical School after seven loooooong years (No pre-med... straight off to medschool- This is the Mexican system)I struggled a lot my first years of medical school. One... learning the medical language, Oh dear lord... It was soooo difficult learning how to change the term from "tummy ache" to "Gastrointestinal discomfort or Acute abdominal pain). This went on until I learned the etymology of the word, (believe me, It does help to know some easy and fun words from their greek, latin, french root) - If you want to ACE anatomy, this is important!Secondly, PHYSIOLOGY! i tried to ignore it, tried my best to get around and just do my own thing. Big mistake. After a while I started to integrate my reading into this magical and beautiful understanding on how or body works. It is a blissfully organized system.Learning pharmacology. Still struggle with that.So... I created stories, characters, songs, mnemotecnics, drawings, mind maps, flashcards.... you name it. I've done it.What works for me is not memorizing but really understanding the concept, apply it in my everyday life.Things started to make sense. It was an enlightment moment when I saw my first patient with Diabetes, I knew everything about it.Genetics, Pathophysiology, Presentation, Workup, Treatment plan and discussing with the patient what it means to have Diabetes. (It was sooo fun! )I would love to help you out during your training, exam week (we call it HELL-WEEK) and provide the tools necessary to help you accomplish your biggest dream (or just pass the exam...)After all of that reading, writing, not sleeping, drinking seven eleven coffee's in the middle of the night, I treat myself with things I am passionate about. I loooove to exercise (yoga, weight lifting, walking, biking, hiking) read good books (not that medical books are not good, but a little bit of Paulo Cohelo wont hurt me) singing, dancing playing the guitar. Laughing, eating, hanging out. BALANCE (or Homeostasis )I am currently doing research at Massachusetts General Hospital on Mind and Body medicine and its influence on a molecular, genetic, organ level) and I am sooo passionate about that. Life has to be interesting, changing things up... not everything is studying (I found it very difficult to understand this)I invite you to take part of this journey of self exploring and learning through diverse techniques that will enhance your comprehension while having fun doing so.

British Literature Tutor • +12 Subjects

I have almost 3 years of experience teaching College Composition courses and a Masters in English. I have written multiple papers and a 40-page thesis on English literature, plays and academic writing from various time periods in the language's history.I have a particular knowledge and expertise of literature originating in the 15th, 16th, 19th and 20th centuries. I also have a particular passion for both British and American literature. As for my teaching style, I like to take a more practical, explorative approach where the student and I will discuss either their writing, an assignment or a piece of literature as if we were having a conversation rather than a lesson. I find that students respond better to learning when they can actively contribute to discussions without simply listening to everything the instructor says.I am deeply passionate about teaching and exploring different forms of writing with students, introducing them to new ways of thinking about literature and even their own writing that engages their interest.

In my experience teaching at the elementary level as a classroom teacher, I have had to spend a lot of time thinking about how to differentiate for the varying needs of my students. I have been fortunate enough to have worked with all types of students special education, ELLs, socio-emotional issues, students with large gaps in education, and more. Working with students one on one makes it easier to isolate and target for interventions and specially designed curriculum needs. I am looking forward to figuring out the best strategies, plans, and design to help students succeed with the tools they need to build a great educational future!Prior to working as an elementary education teacher, I worked as a nanny and a teacher at a pre-k / preschool. I am a nurturing individual who values children and all the curiosity and joy they see and bring to the world. When I'm not teaching I like to be learning new things and keeping my mind sharp. I love to cook, play guitar, see live music, and be an active member of the city and community. Doing any of those aforementioned activities outside is even better! Any questions about me or my background please ask and I look forward to working with you.

I am a doctoral student in theater history at Yale University currently living in Boston. I also hold a B.A. with honors in English Literature. I offer tutoring in elementary and middle school math, English literature, and reading comprehension; I can also offer particular expertise in writing.I am a published critic and scholar, and I currently work as an editorial assistant and proofreader. I also love teaching writing. I have worked for three years in writing intensive courses at the undergraduate and graduate level, and have also helped lead writing workshops for middle and high school students. I enjoy working with students from a wide variety of age levels and educational backgrounds. While the rules governing grammar, usage, and essay construction may appear challenging for many, I believe that, with effort and guidance, anyone can learn to write well. I enjoy helping students acquire the skills that will allow them to express themselves clearly and fluidly.I take a similar approach to teaching reading, literature, and math. When working with students, I do all I can do demystify the process of learning a subject, working with them to uncover its inner logic and obtain the tools and knowledge they need to succeed as students. Finally, I think that learning is fun. I communicate that sense of enthusiasm to my students, so that they will be encouraged to exert the effort and focus necessary to achieve mastery over a subject. In my free time, I enjoy hanging out with friends and family, going to see theater, trying new restaurants, and exploring Boston.
