I am a graduate of the University of Cincinnati (Cincinnati, OH) with a Bachelors of Science in Health Sciences. During my time at UC, I was a Supplemental Instructor for the Anatomy & Physiology department where I lead review sessions with undergraduate students to cement their knowledge and study habits. This position allowed me to discover my passion and talent for teaching, especially teaching others about the complex biology and chemistry of the human body.I am currently a lab manager at the Cardiovascular Research and Training Institute at the University of Utah with a plan to begin a PhD program in Integrative Physiology Fall 2023.While I am confident teaching a broad range of subjects, my strengths lie in the biological sciences and chemistry. I love to talk to people and socialize as well as learn about different cultures and traditions when I travel. I am a fun, happy, out-going person and I feel I synchronize well with people, which, by the way, makes me a good teacher. :)Concerning my teaching philosophy and my tutoring style, I would say that great educators give students the tools they need in order to empower the student to learn and interact with the world on their own. I try to explain the material at hand, give the student the opportunity to use it, experiment with it, do a few study exercises to build a good foundation, and then let them explore ways to give it meaning, by way of projects, or role plays, games, or real life encounters. A person can learn theory about a language on their own, but the reason why they seek out a tutor or an instructor is for the interaction, that is where I come in, I act as a facilitator and a guide so that the student can engage their own imagination to really learn.

I am a Senior at Fordham University, where I am double majoring in Humanitarian Studies and Communications and Culture. My academic undergrad research is focused on fan fiction and participatory culture. I have worked in communications with INEE, immigration casework at the Office of U.S. Senator Gillibrand, refugee resettlement with Catholic Charities, procurement with URENCO USA, and as a children's librarian assistant. This fall, I will be attending law school, with the intent of pursuing a career in immigration public policy after graduation.I believe that tutoring should be a form of empowerment for the student, giving them agency and a way to push their growing edge. Everyone has their own knowledge expertise, and tutoring is a platform for each party to learn from the other.
