As a graduate of University of Michigan with a degree in Kinesiology I hope to help offer my knowledge, patience and desire to help others learn through personalized tutoring meant to meet each child's academic goals by broadening their understanding of different topics and helping them develop the skills necessary to problem solve and/or articulate themselves to the best of their availability.

I graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a B.S. in Molecular and Cellular Biology. During my undergraduate years I was able to take honors courses designated to my major, where I gained a deeper understanding of concepts behind biological processes. I am currently in the process of applying to medical school. The subjects in which I am most proficient are biology, chemistry, and biochemistry. I understand that there are many ways to learn a subject, and I look forward to the opportunity to figure out what learning style works best for each student.

I find teaching and tutoring to be incredibly rewarding. Seeing somebody else understand a concept through my framing of that concept is the highest form of communication for which I strive. I look forward to working with Varsity Tutors and students everywhere.

As a degreed engineer from the University of Illinois, math and science have always been my passion. And since I was 16 years old as a high school sophomore, I have also enjoyed sharing knowledge with others. I was part of the peer tutoring program at my high school, and during college, I tutored fellow students in math and science classes.More specifically, I specialize in high school and college-level math/science courses: algebra, geometry, trigonometry, pre-calculus, calculus, physics and chemistry. Test prep for ACT, SAT, GMAT and GRE are also included. I'm extremely patient and will always take the time to ensure students understand the concepts in a way that is clear to them.I'm available to meet anywhere my students would like, whether it be their home, coffee shop or local library. I'm Robert Glassner and am a middle school math teacher in the northern suburbs of Chicago. I received my Bachelor of Arts from Northeastern Illinois University in Middle-Level Education and Elementary Education, with minors in TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language) and Math and Science Concepts. I am designated as "highly qualified" by the state of Illinois to teach mathematics, science, social sciences, and language arts. I believe that math is the "language of the universe", and it is imperative that all students can communicate mathematically. I have also tutored in some capacity for the last 15 years and have significant experience working with gifted students, English Learners, and remote instruction.

I am so excited about the opportunity to help students of all ages connect to their own passions for learning, in any subject. I look forward to accompanying students through any challenges that stand in the way of that connection and leading students to their own version of success. I've worked across various sectors and have always maintained a love for one-on-one teaching, especially working with children and teaching languages. My experience includes living, working, and traveling abroad, and I rely on this intercultural perspective when presenting language and social studies lessons. I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Global Studies with a minor in Creative Writing. I took French courses throughout college. In the Fall of 2013, I studied abroad in Montpellier, France. While there, I lived with a French host family, studied French language and literature at a French language institute, and also enrolled part-time at a local French university. While I was there, I volunteered as a Teaching Assistant for English classes at a high school.I also have experience tutoring high school seniors. I have worked with them on their college essay personal statements, AP English classes, and I've helped them to improve and edit their writing assignments.As an ardent Francophile, my favorite subject to tutor is French. Although, with my background and interest in creative writing, I enjoy helping students with any and all writing assignments, from college essays to history papers. I like to incorporate my personal experiences with French and with writing into my tutoring sessions because I believe that small connections can help students to remember and retain a lesson. I am a firm believer that every student has his or her own learning style, and that it is my role as a Tutor to specifically address those individual needs to maximize a student's learning and growth.In my spare time, I enjoy reading and writing, going to concerts, cooking, spending time with my family, and studying French.
