My primary experience is in education: I majored in Classics (emphasis on both Latin and Greek) and obtained two masters degrees, one in Classics and the other in philosophy. I am also a certified secondary English teacher in Florida through the online TeacherReady program. I have 5 years experience teaching ESL, entry exams (including GMAT and ACT), and humanities (history, philosophy, literature, and creative writing) at the high-school and college levels. I am also interested in writing, both academically and creatively, and languages: I am fluent in French and Mandarin Chinese and can read Latin, German, and Greek. I am currently a junior in college in the process of finishing my Bachelor's of Mathematics with a minor in Psychology. I have been tutoring students from elementary school level to upper-level classes for chemistry and mathematics for about 5 years now. I also have experience with taking the SAT/ACT and am comfortable tutoring the Math/Science sections of standardized tests. After earning my Bachelor's degree, I plan on becoming a math teacher or full-time tutor to provide extra support for those that may need it, and will eventually go back for my Master's degree. I have slightly different approaches and methods to tutor depending on the age group/grade-level. Although I love making sure the student feels more confident with their subject knowledge, I also always try my best to make sure the person is comfortable with how I teach/present the material. Over my years of tutoring, I have experienced students of all different learning styles and capabilities. So, if someone were to be confused or struggling with how I first help them, I would "take a step back" and look at it from a different angle to find another way on how to present the material.In high school, I completed Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, Pre-Calculus Algebra/Trigonometry, AP Calculus 1, Honors Chemistry and graduated with a 4.0 GPA. So far in college, I have completed General Chemistry 1, 2, both Lab courses, Calculus 1-3, Linear Algebra, Differential Equations, and Numerical Analysis and have kept a 3.5 GPA so far. Although I haven't taken certain math/science courses since high school, all of the upper-level math courses I am currently enrolled in consistently incorporate the basics, so I haven't lost touch.I am always open to new suggestions, resources, and feedback from both students and parents alike. I have experience working with students from the kindergarten level to undergraduates at universities. I tutor English, writing, science, study methods, and mathematics. When working with new students, the first thing I always do is try to understand how each student learns because each individual is different and everyone learns in a unique way. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, reading, writing, and playing badminton.

I just recently graduated The University of the Sciences. I received my Bachelor of Science in Biology and a minor in Mathematics in the spring of 2018. While at the University of the Sciences I was a peer tutor for Calculus I and II, and I was a teaching assistant for General Chemistry, Microbiology, and Genetics. This Fall I will be pursuing my masters degree at Temple University in Actuarial Science. I tutor a broad range of subject areas mostly in the math and sciences. I believe that relating the material back to concepts that are relevant to our daily lives is the best way to learn. I have had extensive tutoring experience in the areas of calculus, statistics, SAT, ACT and SAT subject tests in chemistry, mathematics and literature, GRE quantitative and the MCAT. And my mantra is practice practice practice! The more problems that we do together the more success you will encounter. During my undergraduate studies I spent my time in political organizations and in research, teaching fellowships on political philosophy at Harvard Effective Altruism and serving as a Visiting Researcher in food policy at the University of Cambridge. After graduating, I spent time as a researcher in political science and history and mentored students working towards attending top schools in the US and UK, providing one-on-one help with applications and developing seminars on topics like Sociology and English. Most recently, I have started a non-profit organization in Ecuador focused on educating families about healthy cooking and providing nutritional assistance. At the same time, I am excited to continue pursuing my passion for teaching and helping students navigate subjects like History, English Literature, ESL, Spanish, and Standardized Tests like the ACT, AP, and IB tests. I believe that the knowledge young people receive in primary and secondary education is the ultimate individual enrichment; an essential part of understanding who they are and a key to seeing who they may become. In my spare time, I walk, read history books like Doris Kearns Goodwin's Team of Rivals, and listen to music like Led Zeppelin and Lana del Rey.
