I am as passionate about the success of my students as I am the material I teach. My career is deeply rooted in science and mathematics, and I have shared this knowledge as a teacher and tutor for years, helping students improve their understanding and enjoyment of these subjects and prepare for exams. As an engineering professional, I've spent my career in aerospace, aviation, biotechnology, computer science, sensors, and laser systems and I bring the excitement of my unique career to every session to give students a picture of how they may connect the core concepts in some of their most important subjects to the rewarding challenges of real world applications. My background allows me to offer more than just a study session to someone who wants to take charge of their success. I like to build a framework of tools that students can use for their entire career, and I offer new ways of looking at old ideas. I hold a Master of Science in Physics, a Bachelor of Science in Physics and Mathematics, graduate studies in Aerospace Engineering, professional development in Business and Entrepreneurship, and years of research and development in engineering and software. I am also an FAA licensed pilot and I have flown several types of aircraft, including helicopters and fixed wing aircraft, and I'm also well versed in preparation for a career in military aviation and becoming a military officer. If you or someone you know needs help with basic subject material in physics, mathematics, other natural sciences, programming, or computer science, or if you just need help preparing for a difficult exam like the SAT, ACT, GRE, ASVAB, AFOQT, AFAST, or any portion of these tests, reach out to me. I will guide you to the success you deserve.

My Educational PhilosophyEric DeitchMy philosophy of education does not center on just one philosophy but instead is the result of many influences, such as personal experience, intuition, and a combination of philosophies used by educators of the past. I strive to develop and provide the most positive and inclusive learning experience possible right from the onset of the educational process. Learning is always continuous and requires a broad vision of education to maximize a student's ability to gain knowledge and confidence and ensure their success. My beliefs regarding education encompass the person as a whole and a unique individual, therefore, this shapes my teaching behaviors accordingly.I believe the aim of education is to instill a desire for learning and teach people how to think for themselves rather than what to think. Within every person is a need to be loved, respected, and shown acts of kindness in order to unlock and cultivate their true potential. Education should be a means to equip learners with the tools to develop their minds so they can become productive citizens in an ever-growing and changing society. I want to leave students with a desire to persistently ask questions and continually seek more knowledge, thus, using their unique experiences and view of the world to shape themselves and those around them for the greater good.Involving and motivating students presents its challenges, but my goal of individualizing learning creates an open and comfortable classroom environment where students can feel free to ask questions, make mistakes, and challenge themselves. Being able to ask questions, and actually attempt to answer those questions, can be very motivating.I urge my students to think about very basic questions they have and to begin questioning all those 'facts' in the textbook. My goal is to have students leave the classroom with an attitude of inquiry; something I think is necessary to be a good student and a good citizen. Encouraging students to question what they know results in fruitful and revealing classroom discussions and has allowed me to identify common misconceptions and areas I need to put more focus on.In order to keep students motivated, I have found that it becomes imperative to be a creative teacher, by utilizing various active learning methods like group discussions, peer teaching or presentations, and question cards, the latter of which allows students to write down what they don't clearly understand. Students rarely admit that they don't know anything, so using methods that allow them to bring their misunderstandings to light provides an opportunity for me to determine whether my teaching is effective. These are all various ways of attempting to individualize the learning process as well, and I vary my instruction methods to hopefully engage everyone's learning style.I believe that the learning process is best when it is collaborative between students and the instructor. It is my expectation that students not only learn from me and from each other, but that I learn from them as well. The connection and energy established between my students and myself is a powerful teaching technique that I utilize in creating an optimal learning experience. By sharing with them my teaching objectives, students know that I am invested in them. My role as the instructor is not only a source of knowledge but also a source of support and an avenue to guide them to other resources. When appropriate, I use my personal experiences to help students grasp the information, make the connection between the text and real life, and also challenge my students to reflect on their thoughts and behaviors. Students can expect that I am approachable, available to answer questions, and genuinely invested in their academic success. I strive to be student-focused, competent, flexible, and aware of uniqueness amongst my students.I always arrive at class early to chat with my students and spend the first few minutes of class checking in on how they are doing. I get to know my students as people. I learn their names, the sports teams they play on, their hobbies and interests, and the list goes on.It is essential that students be given the opportunity to maximize their potential and they should be inspired to do so. Every student has the potential to attain greatness! My job as an educator is to harness a student's abilities and then set them free with the confidence and the necessary tools to succeed.

I am a master's student in Astrophysics at Tufts University and a 2017 graduate of Colgate University with a Bachelor of Arts in Astronomy/Physics. Before going back to school in the Fall of 2019 I spent time working in healthcare analytics and tutoring students in Math and Physics in the Greater New York City area. I now am available to tutor all levels of Math, Physics, Astronomy and programming in Python. I am passionate about Astronomy and truly believe that learning about the wonders of the World and Universe around us truly enriches our quality of life and education. I love seeing the "lightbulb moment" when working with students where they are able to connect the dots and overcome a particular challenge that we have been working on together and always strive to improve student outcomes whether that be mastering a new subject or polishing up their problem solving abilities, there is no greater feeling than being able to help someone learn and encourage a lifelong love of learning. When I am not tutoring or at school I can be found going on a run through Cambridge, supporting all of my (mostly terrible) New York sports teams and most recently improving my cooking and baking skills.

I'm Youssef! I'm very excited to work with students right away. Here's some info about myself: I'm a current sophomore Astrophysics and Math Major in college. I love math, and science indeed, and I love teaching them to people in the most fun way possible! Because if math and science aren't fun, they're just a bunch of symbols that make zero sense. I'm very excited to work with students!

I am a graduate from the University of Washington, with degrees in Physics and Astronomy and a minor in Mathematics. I am taking a gap year before attending graduate school at Rutgers University for Astrophysics, and in the meantime, I am tutoring and working on various academic projects. I have been tutoring math, physics, and astronomy for 3 years. My approach is to help individual comprehension rather than rote memorization.I'm interested in a lot of things outside of just tutoring! I enjoy bouldering, playing the guitar, programming, and hiking with my girlfriend and dog. If you live around the University of Washington, you might have seen me hosting public astronomy nights at the campus observatory or star-gazing in Red Square.

I have a master's degree in physics with research emphasis in astrophysics from San Francisco State University. I received my Bachelor of Science in physics and astronomy with a minor in math. Currently I am an adjunct instructor at Mesa Community College teaching astrophysics courses. I have four years of teaching experience in astronomy and physics lab courses at San Francisco State University. I acquired excellent teaching skills while I was a graduate student at San Francisco State University for which I even received an honor of outstanding physics teaching assistant from San Francisco State University. I was also a math instructor for a Summer Bridge program at San Francisco state University where my responsibility was to teach first year college algebra. I have tutored kids in the age group of 8 to 15 in the subject areas of science and math. I tutor math (calculus, differential equations, algebra, geometry and trigonometry) and science courses (physics, astrophysics, planetary science). I enjoy teaching in general and am passionate about math, physics and astronomy. I firmly believe that education is one of the most important tools in shaping a child's life and I would love to be a part of that process. In my past experience I have noticed many students struggle with subjects like math and physics and my goal is to try to make it a fun experience for them. In my spare time I enjoy reading books, biking, hiking , running and snow boarding. During my graduate program I liked volunteering at our college observatory and I still like to take my telescope out occasionally for star gazing.
