I first became familiar with the other side of the teacher/student relationship while tutoring a Japanese student taking an English as a Second Language class. While working with her I discovered the trust the student has with the teacher, and how carefully this trust must be preserved. I also learned to keep myself out of the student's work, in other words the student's work was entirely work of the student.

I am a graduate of the New York Institute of Technology. I received my Bachelor of Science in Life Sciences with a Pre-Medical concentration, and I graduated Magna Cum Laude. I am working towards obtaining my M.D. Degree and hope to become a doctor in our growing scientific community.I have four years worth of professional and non-professional tutoring experience. I was employed by the New York Institute of Technology to tutor fellow students in subjects such as Calculus, General Biology, Physics, Organic Chemistry, Human Physiology, Embryology, Histology and Statistical Analysis. I have extensive one-on-one tutoring experience, small group (2-5 students) tutoring experience and classroom setting tutoring experience. I have worked with high school and college students, as well as elementary and middle school children in the subjects of math and science. All of my students have demonstrated great improvement in their test scores and showed a much better understanding of the material. I primarily use visual methods during my tutoring session such as charts, pictures, diagrams, colors and most importantly, organization, to give my students a better understanding of subject. However, I am very flexible with my teaching, and I am dedicated in creating a very personalized method that works best for each individual student. I truly believe that patience and hard work are the keys to success, and combined with the right tools anyone can overcome any obstacles they find while trying to further their education. While I do tutor many subjects, my personal favorite has to be Biology/Anatomy/Physiology and Genetics. I am fascinated by the human body and its complexity. That is actually the reason I chose the M.D. Route. I am always yearning to learn more, and I hope to pass that enthusiasm onto my students as well. When I'm not tutoring, I both act in theatre productions and sing with my A Cappella group. I also love reading, writing and drawing.

Graduate Test Prep Tutor • +5 Subjects

My passion for helping students comes from my own personal experience. When I was being tutored, I would always look forward to the "aha" moments, where everything clicks and the material makes sense to me. I wish to impart that upon my students. As a former tutor of the SAT, ACT and of math, I know what test prep is all about, and the strategies needed to make success come to fruition.I received my BS in Accounting and Finance from Binghamton University, graduating Magna Cum Laude. I will be starting law school in the 2021-2022 school year, and I am currently taking a gap year to tutor and teach the LSAT, exclusively, full-time. I tutor the LSAT exclusively, because I believe it is important to totally immerse oneself in a subject as much as possible, when teaching it, to dedicate oneself to mastery, or at least, as close to it as is reasonably possible. My teaching philosophy focuses on understanding the thought process of my students, to ascertain gaps in their reasoning, to put them on the path to success.

I am a current undergraduate at the University of Michigan. I am a Biochemistry major and Philosophy minor, with years of experience tutoring students. Through high school, I tutored kids in the ACT, math, science, literature, and debate. My favorite subject to tutor is Chemistry, as I have taken Chemistry Honors, AP Chemistry, and Organic Chemistry(1 and 2). I believe that tutoring is a two way street, with the student learning about the material, but the teacher learning about how the student interacts with the material. Due to this, I am a very hands-on tutor who is always available for a text/call outside of class. Outside of academia, I am a singer and have been for 13 years now - a choir singer for 7 years and now in a premier acapella group at the University of Michigan.

I am a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University. I received my Bachelor of Science in Video/Film Production with a minor in theater. Since graduation, I realized that my passion was in helping and educating others, so I began my career in education as a preschool teacher in Brentwood, TN, cultivating lifelong learners and nurturing the next generation. While I have an interest in a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about English, Literature, Grammar and Composition, and History. As the daughter of immigrants, I firmly believe in the power of education and lifelong learning, as it has proven to be absolutely necessary for an improved quality of life. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, watching film and television, photography, collecting vinyl, building Lego sets with my husband, and enjoying a football game.

I am a graduate of West Chester University of Pennsylvania. I received a Bachelor of Arts in History and Education, and am certified to teach Social Studies in grades 7-12 in Pennsylvania. I am currently working towards my certification to teach Spanish in Pennsylvania as well. I have tutored 4th graders in Spanish during my senior year in high school and more recently taught Global Studies at Upper Darby High School near Philadelphia. My favorite subjects in school were always Spanish and History, and I am incredibly happy and excited to be able to teach both of those subjects now as a Varsity Tutor. I believe that the goal of education is to give students life long learning skills and most importantly teaching students to be critical thinkers. When I am not teaching you will find me playing sports, usually tennis or ice hockey, or playing guitar. Also, in the winter time I try to make it to the mountains to snowboard as often as I can.

I am a graduate of Loyola University of New Orleans and a past member of Toastmasters International for 20 years. As founder and 1st president of my Toastmaster's club, I have served as mentor to over 75 students. My undergraduate and graduate education in Music Therapy has enabled me to work with students of all ages and abilities attending Elementary, High School and College. My Master's Music Therapy Curriculum focused on educational and therapeutic outreach for students who have been described as "Difficult to reach Youth". They have not experienced the self-esteem "boosters" and "successful Test Scores" to attend universities like "Loyola University, Yale University, Xavier University, or Harvard University"; however, so many of these students can find success in their personal and professional lives when given the opportunity to excel toward important educational goals. After teaching all subjects (Elementary and Secondary) in Louisiana, California, Texas, and Belize, I have witnessed students' unique moments of educational success that enables them to gain self-confidence, self-assurance, and self-esteem. These special moments have literally changed the trajectory of many students' lives. Also, my graduate and undergraduate work at Loyola enabled me to create new technology for children (and adults) with disabilities to read and perform advanced level professional music. Our Blind Music Performing Group in Las Vegas has performed the National Anthem at local Professional Sports Venues, City Council Meetings, and Community Celebrations. My degree in Music Therapy has provided me with an amazing ability to work with students ranging from "Advanced to Special Education". Overall, I have witnessed the light that shines so brightly in students when they realize their own "Unique Abilities" . THIS MOMENT IS ALWAYS "REMARKABLE". I remain thankful for the opportunity to witness this moment in all my students' lives.
