I am a graduate of Mercer University. I received my Bachelor of Science in Biology and Chemistry with a focus in medicine . I have extensive experience tutoring college students and elementary, middle, and high school children. In addition, I have tutored in after school science programs for schools in areas below the poverty line. Also, I have extensive experience in medical research where I further sharpened my science skills. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about the sciences and math. In my experience, helping struggling students understand new material is a very rewarding experience for both the student and myself. I am a firm proponent of education, believing it to be absolutely necessary for an improved quality of life, and I try to impart this appreciation to all of my students. I acknowledge that each student possesses different learning needs, and I am flexible to adjust my teaching style to effectively meet the needs of my students. In my spare time, I enjoy running, cooking, and volunteering in my community.

Reflecting on my educational experiences, I appreciate the immeasurable impact that teachersmake on the lives of young people. I also realize that the skills and knowledge acquired in theclassroom, will be used by young people throughout life. Therefore, as a teacher, I hope to be arole model that cultivates in young people, open minds, the knowledge and ability to look at theworld critically, and the belief in ones capacity to make positive contributions to society.Over the past 8 years, I have worked with young people as a teacher and youth worker. At MCKSDA church in Maryland, I planned, prepared and delivered educational activities thatengaged students in learning various subjects including science, language and math. I also tutored my two younger brothers with their college materials as well. As I got my degree in Biological Science, I have the most confidence in teaching those subjects up to college students level. i am also working hard towards getting my DDS(Doctor of Dental Surgery) and we focus a lot in the science subjects. My experience teaching various students with different characteristics enabled me to find a effective way to tutor different people. I am able to manage challenging behavior effectively, conduct activities safely and communicate with people from diverse backgrounds. Further, I am very creative and enjoysourcing materials that make learning interesting. Most importantly, my ability to work wellwith others, motivate and inspire is a very significant contribution that I am confident I can bringto the course and into the classroom.

I am currently a junior in an accelerated medical program, The Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education, at CUNY City College of New York located in Harlem, New York. As an aspiring primary care physician, I believe that there is nothing more valuable in this progressive society than individualized attention. I am confident that both patients and students alike, can prosper beyond their maximum potential if they were to get the care and consideration they deserved, which is uncommon in hospitals and public schools, respectively. Therefore, I am an intern at a local clinic where I work directly with patients to improve patient satisfaction and guarantee a standard quality of care. On the other hand, every week, I mentor high school students through the college application process and work with them one-on-one to edit their college essays. In addition, I have previously tutored fellow underclassmen in my high school on the SAT and other standardized tests like NYS Regents Exams. Of all the subjects I tutor, I am most passionate about math, the life sciences, and writing. In my spare time, you will find me either working out at the gym, baking sweets in my kitchen, spending time with my two cats at home, or hopefully, relaxing on the sunny beaches of California.

I have over 10 years of experience tutoring and mentoring students at both the undergraduate and graduate level. Additionally, I have taught and prepared examination materials/study guides for graduate-level courses. I have also worked extensively on editing and revising scientific manuscripts and other written works.I am extremely interested in education and tailoring my tutoring/teaching methods to each student's individual learning style. There are many students I have encountered who are more than capable of excelling in any given field but are held back by rigid methods. I find helping someone realize their full learning potential to be an incredibly rewarding experience.I have three science-related degrees: a Bachelor's in Behavioral Biology, a PhD in Biochemistry/Molecular Biology, and an MD. In medical school I received numerous accolades for my scholastic accomplishments, including a Fellowship from the National Cancer Institute, "highest course score" awards, and induction into the honor societies of Alpha Omega Alpha and Phi Kappa Phi. I have an extensive publication track record in high-impact journals, and have worked on projects ranging from nanoparticle-conjugated chemotherapeutics to live cell imaging of genetically engineered cell systems.

I recently graduated from SUNY Albany with a B.S. in Human Biology. I have extensive experience tutoring students of all ages, from fourth grade up to and including my undergraduate peers in college. I excelled in all my classes, including biochemistry, organic chemistry, physics, chemistry, biology and physiology. I also completed a tutoring course which taught me different techniques, learning styles, and how keep the student engaged and interested in the session. I have learned how to work with each individual's learning style to maximize the student's understanding of the subject at hand.

Being raised on a farm in Missouri, I've always had a strong interest in math and science. I especially liked the applied side of things. The "bean in a cup" experiment in elementary school grew into a hobby greenhouse as a teenager providing my family with vegetables for the table. It went on to grow into a full time family business which helped put me through college. The practical experience I got with all of this was invaluable. With more of a hands on approach, applied science and math allows you to take what you think you learned in class and see it in action in real life experiences. The experiences allow better integration of abstract concepts into reality, concreting what you know and leaving you with a desire to find out more.I attended college at Northwest Missouri State University and received a B.S. in ACS-accredited Chemistry in 2008. I have therefore had a lot of chemistry, including organic and p-chem as well as algebra, trig, geometry and multi-variate calculus. While I was a tutor for the Chemistry/Physics department (and asked to tutor College Lit and Bio labs) I actually had several classes in biology and agribusiness that led me to my graduate work at Arizona State. I am currently finishing up my PhD in Molecular and Cellular Biology with emphasis on microalgal cultivation. I have a wide array of interests and enjoy spending time outdoor hiking and mountain biking.Overall, I'd say I'm a natural born problem solver. I love solving problems, especially abstract ones requiring creativity and imagination. I think it is the challenge of pulling from all of your life experiences and knowledge to come up with a solution that works. I think the key for success is having enough patience to keep ones imagination at work long enough to come up with a solution. I believe every problem has a solution, sometimes many.'It is often said that men are ruled by their imaginations; but it would be truer to say they are governed by the weakness of their imaginations.'Walter Bagehot
