Helping students grow is a passion of mine; it is, in fact, my life's work. Since I graduated from the University of North Carolina in 2001 and NC Central University in 2005, I have worked to help students develop their potential in my roles as as an Exceptional Children's Teacher, Middle School ELA teacher, High School English and Social Studies teacher, and College Developmental Reading/Writing and English/History/Humanities instructor.

I love tutoring a broad range of subjects, but I'm definitely the most requested when it comes to the field of Mathematics! I first started tutoring when I was a sophomore in high school, but I've continued to tutor part time over the last fifteen years. Specifically I've tutored everything from elementary subjects to college level Calculus. Currently I am an Accountant for the state of Oklahoma. I also genuinely do know the real life applications for the lessons a student will learn in math because I utilize those lessons on a daily basis. Ultimately the truth is I have always seemed to have a way to break down topics in my head in such a way that I could explain the concepts to anyone. My favorite example of this is when I would teach my high school AP Calculus homework to my step-sister who happened to be in the 5th grade at the time. She wanted to know how to do what I was doing, so I taught her. She loved it, and she still tells me the reason she ultimately decided to become an Architect was because she never forgot how much she loved telling her classmates that she learned how to do Calculus in the 5th grade! Now while I can't guarantee every person I tutor will grow to love to school as much as me, I will guarantee everyone I tutor will appreciate the subject for what it is and gain both the tools and the confidence needed to be as successful as he/she wants to be in that subject!

I just graduated from the University of Texas-Austin with a B.A. in Psychology, a Business Foundations Certificate from McCombs, and a minor in German with a GPA of 3.92! I was a straight A student in high school as well, and took all advanced and AP classes. When I was at one of my high schools in Louisiana, the classes were all done online. I managed to finish all of the requirements for high school when I was only 14! Unfortunately, many of my classmates struggled without the presence of a teacher, and I began tutoring them. I tutored students from many different backgrounds in all subjects of high school for over 6 months, and greatly enjoyed it and would like to tutor again.Now, having just graduated with my undergraduate degree, I am looking to begin tutoring as a true mentor, and not as a classmate. I have always excelled in and enjoyed the classroom setting. I scored a 34 composite on my ACT and 2120 on my SAT, and would be happy to help with the challenges of preparing for standardized tests, as well as regular subjects for school. Through the use of your or your child's textbook/test prep materials and problems that I assign for practice, I will make sure that you or your child is fully equipped for success!Both learning and teaching provide me with a great sense of reward, and I am looking forward to tutoring (and learning from) you or your child.

In May 2019 I graduated from the University of North Texas with a BA in English and a concentration in creative writing. I particularly enjoy revising/editing stories and essays but can also help with Literary Analysis, Composition, etc as well as most standardized tests and middle school/high school subjects. I'm friendly and passionate about helping other people in any way I can. I'm pretty funny (I hope) so we should have a great time while we're working. I recently graduated as an English major in the Bachelor of Art from Kenyon College in Gambier, OH, USA. I studied my junior year abroad, attending the Kenyon-Exeter program at the University of Exeter, England, UK. Informed by cross-border intellectual cultivation, I use creative expressions to bring Ethiopia's rich history, art, and literature to the international spotlight. I am also interested in Religious Studies because I believe our approach to religious and/or spiritual thoughts informs our conception of life and our place in it. Inspired by these interests, I compose light, colors, and words to capture the truths and meanings I see in the daily life.

I have over 15 years in business in various fields such as Human Resources, customer services, retail and entrepreneurship. I am currently a certified teacher of secondary education (grades 5 - 12) Special Education.I've been teaching since 2013 and I am currently a part of the founding staff of Union Settlement Bridge Program @ Harlem Prep Charter located in East Harlem NY. I specialize in English, Earth Science, and Computer Science. Also, I am a certified Medical Office Administration Assistant, Billing and Coding Specialist and Electronic Health Records Specialist with the National Healthcare Association (NHA).
