I just recently graduated from Villanova University with a BS in Chemical Engineering, and dual minors in Biology and Bioengineering. At Villanova, I was the president of the Club Running team, Commissioner of Intramural Sports, and heavily involved in service. Outside of the classroom, I've held internships and co-ops with ChemSolv, Inc., GlaxoSmithKline, and Johnson & Johnson, as well as presented research at the American Chemical Society National Expo. Beginning in the fall of 2015 I will pursue a PhD in Chemical Engineering at MIT.My hobbies include every and all sports, both playing and watching, playing keyboard and singing vocals in a local rock band, cooking, and outdoors activities. My go-to fun-fact is that I am the youngest of 9 children!

Over the past six years I've made dozens of short films and video art pieces, and freelanced on independent documentary projects. I have worked on television shows for Major League Baseball Productions, produced content for activist groups, and programmed for UnionDocs, a microcinema in New York. More recently, I've coordinated and facilitated retreats for emerging adults, focusing on personal growth skills and political education. I tutor a broad range of subjects, but I'm most passionate about English, Literature, and History. I've recently (and successfully) tutored myself in test preparation skills, so I am also very prepared to tutor test-prep. In my experience as a tutor, I have a great track record helping students develop their interest in reading anything! I have a deep belief that education is about practice, and that by practicing anything enough, any student can improve.

I spent the summer after my first year working in Kampala, Uganda on human rights issues and helped a team of lawyers to repeal the oppressive Anti-Homosexuality Act. I am currently assisting lawyers in the U.S. with a death penalty case and am a member of the Journal of Gender and Law.Prior to starting law school, I gained experience working with non-profits and on political campaigns. I earned my bachelor's degree in Public Policy from Stanford in 2011.I enjoy the opportunity to work with clients as they apply to college and graduate school, by helping with both test prep and admissions essays. I am a computer engineer who truly enjoys both science and mathematics. I find both areas of studies incredibly interesting and believe that every person is capable of learning these subjects to a very good extent and can learn to enjoy them as well. In my opinion people who do not enjoy these subjects have simply never had a decent teacher, thus I would like to become that first teacher for them who truly enjoys what they're doing and enjoys the sharing and distribution of knowledge.

I currently attend the University of Miami as a pre-medical student and am on course to obtain a BS in biology as well as a BS in marine science. In addition to my majors, my minors include chemistry and finance. Throughout my high school career, I tutored middle and elementary school students in a variety of subjects. I also have experience tutoring students with learning disabilities. I've taught ESL to medical doctors in Spain, and I've worked as a Teaching Assistant in a leadership course that focused on public speaking. My favorite subjects to tutor include biological and related sciences, as well as Spanish and English. My tutoring style is to get students excited about learning, as I believe that students with a positive attitude and willingness to learn are the most successful. Outside of tutoring and academia, my interests include traveling and shadowing physicians.

I have been a volunteer tutor and tennis and life skills instructor for the past 10 years. I have worked youth and adult of all ages and have achieved success with every age group I have worked with. I love sharing my knowledge with people in a fun and engaging way. I love explaining topics through a variety of interactive and interesting methods. Once you know why you learn something you are much more inclined to focus and challenge yourself with it. For college, I moved to Houston to attend Rice University, where I majored in Psychology. I then earned a masters degree in Religion at Yale and I am now working towards a degree in Bioethics at UPenn. I also completed the premedical requirements during this time.In Connecticut, I worked as a chaplain in a community hospital. Upon moving to Philadelphia, I found a position at CHOP as a research assistant and then transitioned to a job as an OB/GYN research coordinator at HUP. Outside of academia, I work as a barista and I skate on an adult synchronized ice skating team in Philly!

I'm an experienced reading, writing, and ESL instructor who has taught both adolescents and adults in high school and pre-college programs. During my undergraduate years, I studied Spanish at Indiana University of Pennsylvania and participated in study abroad programs at El Centro Bilinge and La Universidad de Las Americas in Mexico. While completing my Bachelor's, I tutored classmates in English and assisted them with proofreading essays. Later, I completed a Master's of Education in Bilingual/Multicultural Education through Northern Arizona University. While studying for this degree, I volunteered at a junior high school and taught ESL classes there. After graduation, I moved to Oregon and began adjunct teaching for a community college in their Adult Basic Skills Program where I taught ESL, PreGED/GED Language Arts, Visual Arts, Graphic Design, basic computer skills, and pre-college Reading/Writing courses. I enjoy teaching ESL and English the most because of the opportunities to help students increase their vocabulary and express themselves creatively through writing. My first goal when teaching is to raise a student's confidence in their communicative abilities and expand upon their background knowledge, so that they are able to increasingly take on more difficult assignments. I strongly believe that confidence is the key to succeeding in any subject. In combining high levels of confidence and a well-rounded education, one will have more opportunities for career, social, and personal growth. Outside of teaching English, I'm also a photographer who enjoys story-telling through visual imagery. This May I graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a BA in Classics summa cum laude. Next year I will be proceeding to Oxford University to study for a master’s degree in Greek and Latin languages and literature. In High School I tutored students in a number of subjects, including Latin and English. In college, as head of the Blues Department at the radio station, I taught seminars on the history of blues music to other undergraduates. I am most interested in tutoring students in Latin or in English literature. I can also teach elementary Ancient Greek to any interested students. My strengths include language, writing, and literary analysis. I can also offer test prep help to students struggling with the SAT writing or critical reading sections, or the subject tests and AP Exams in Latin or English Literature. My philosophy is that students who are happy, engaged, and excited about the material, regardless of ability level, are the best learners. For test prep, this means avoiding the hysteria that many feel about the exams and focusing on the material itself with a realistic view of how to get the most out of the test. For Latin and English Literature, this means forgetting about right and wrong and discovering the joy of interpretation and of language. Outside of academics I am interested in guitar playing and the history of American popular music.
