I graduated from Washington State University. My major was Sociology with a minor in Human Development. Later, I became a teacher to assist students with learning disabilities. My biggest revelation was that everyone learns differently.I help struggling students find their learning style and apply it. The process may not be pretty but progress is made . One strategy is "no opting out". Students work on a assignment despite believing they cannot complete it.My approach to tutoring is two-fold for students in elementary school to high school. They must practice skills and learning strategies. This approach does not accommodate college students because of the academic workload. For them, our sessions are project-based. I cover all aspects of an assignment, including examples or critique completed projects.I now focus on entrepreneurial education and S.T.E.M. The subjects that I tutor are: English, Language Arts and Basic Math to Pre-Algebra. I look forward to unleashing the learning potential of future clients.

Even though I'm not done with college, I have already published papers in the field of epigenetics since my freshmen year of college. Even though I consider myself to have an expertise in languages, I decided to teach areas in the field of natural sciences because those are the subjects that I am most passionate about.I was born in Taiwan; however, even before I learned how to speak, I moved to the States. Hence, my first language was English. In third grade, my parents decided to move back to Taiwan to aid in my education of the Chinese language. Of course, learning Chinese as a second language is as difficult as it sounds. With some hard work and the right learning strategies, I was able to get a good grasp on the language and even winning third place in a national writing competition four years after moving to Taiwan.Although I learned a new language during the time I was in Taiwan, I slowly lost my English speaking, writing, and reading abilities. When I moved back to the States in 9th grade, my English was not fluent enough to be put into a classroom with the other native speakers. I worked hard, and I was able to get out of a two-year ESL (English as a Second Language) program in just a semester.I have tutored students since I was in high school in English, Chinese, mathematics, and most subjects in the area of natural sciences. I initially started out tutoring math, but over time I have grown to love tutoring literature as well.I believe that tutoring is a job that needs to be customized to the needs and learning style of each student, so I try to pay attention to what works and what doesn't as I get to know each student more.
