I'm currently a student at the Georgia Institute of Technology. I've been a peer tutor for a variety of math classes including Algebra, Geometry, Calculus, and Trigonometry. I also have spent over a year as a Chess Instructor.

I have 12 years of HR experience. I've also taught Managing Human Capital, Introduction to Compensation and Benefits and Business courses at the university level. In Fall of 2016, having received the Competitive Graduate Award, Daniel will begin an M. A. in English Language and Literature at Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville.Daniel received an M. A. in Education from McKendree University (Lebanon, Illinois) in 2014, and received a B. A. in English from Saint Louis University in 2000.He has taught at the high school level for 14 years. His teaching experience is broad, covering subjects from English to social studies and history to philosophy and theology. His primary areas of expertise are in composition and writing across the curriculum, reading in all content areas, and English and American Literature; however, Daniel finds that teaching well is a skill that transcends the academic disciplines.When he is not teaching, writing, or reading voraciously, Daniel enjoys playing the guitar and piano, and riding his bike along the many bike trails scattered across southern Illinois and Missouri.

I am a Junior at DePaul University working towards a Psychology degree. I love teaching and helping others around me, especially when it comes to writing and reading. Since high school, I have always found ways to reach out and further my love for mentoring and teaching. Throughout the school year, I am a mentee for a Chicago Public school child which has definitely benefited my teaching skills. As a military kid, I understand that every child grasps concepts in diverse ways and has a unique set of skills. That is why I am willing to tackle a problem in various ways, whichever is best fit for the child to understand and truly know. I am very patient, eager, and motivated to building positive relationships and look forward to tutoring on this platform!

I have had many years of tutoring experiencing in a broad range of subjects ranging from humanities to Stem courses. I typically enjoy tutoring in math and science courses the most. In my free time I enjoy baking treats for my family, playing tennis with friends, or going for runs.

Having grown up in a rural area surrounded by forests, streams, plants, animals, and lots and lots of rocks, I have always enjoyed the natural world. I decided early in my life to study nature and its processes. Curiosity drives me, but sharing the joy and rewards of curiosity has been a motivating force in my becoming a tutor and a teacher. I started tutoring science and math while studying for my undergraduate degree at Mansfield University in Pennsylvania. I was the school's math and science tutor for about two years. Later during my Ph.D. work at University at Buffalo, I continued tutoring, but this time in an unofficial capacity and focusing on helping my international student friends with their scientific writing. More recently I was a volunteer Chemistry tutor at one local college while teaching Chemistry at a second college. I enjoyed teaching at the college level, so I earned my teaching license and have been teaching middle school and high school Chemistry and Biology for the last several years. I have taught all levels from AP to basic in both subjects. I also have taught classes such as Human Anatomy/Physiology and Astronomy/Geology. I am interested in all fields and branches of science.

I volunteered to teach an ESL class in Israel in 1995. I have assisted in an Iowa after school tutoring program for three years. I enjoyed substitute teaching in Iowa school systems, then became a social worker for families facing challenges for two years.I was born and raised in Chicago then moved to the suburbs. I grew up playing hockey and participated in many sports in high school. I enjoy creating art and appreciating the art others create. I believe that whether someone cooks, fixes cars, listens to their friends, hangs out or any of the other billions of activities, they are expressing themselves-and that is art.When I teach-I ask questions because I be people are capable of discovering the answers. No two people learn the same way. Some people need to see it, some need to hear it, some need to just dive in and explore, some need to move around; most are some of each. I want people to do well. The first session will always contain a fair amount of getting acquainted and I promise to do my share of listening.

In 2015, I graduated from Columbia College with a BA in Comedy Writing and Performance. However, I have a long and extensive background in English. I started tutoring all elementary subjects while still in high school. I edited essays and short stories for my peers and some graduates while in college. I also took many writing courses while there. My great grandmother, grandmother, and mother used to be English teachers, so it seems to be in my blood! I have a passion for grammar, as well as performance. I currently work as an instructor at Chicago Performing Arts and as Lead Educator for Right at School. Teaching is so rewarding. I love being able to watch students learn and grow. It is important for me to relate to my students and make learning fun. I don't think people learn when they're intimidated or bored, so finding ways to connect and make the materials interesting are important steps in my process. I encourage questions and creativity. Shortcomings are not things to be ashamed of, but rather to be learned from.I believe that, while grades are certainly important to the success of the student, they are only a secondary focus of importance. There are dozens of ways to get good grades without ever increasing in knowledge. The primary focus of education should be to allow students to gain an understanding of themselves: strengths, weaknesses, abilities, affinities, etc.My goal as a tutor is to use my knowledge and successes as well as my personal and academic shortcomings to help students learn and grow in areas they don't feel confident in.My focus subjects are Writing, English, and their surrounding areas.
