Hello there! My name is Katherine. I graduated from the University of New Mexico in 2016 with my BA in Economics and I'm currently pursuing my PhD at UNM, also in Economics. Learning is a passion for me, and I try to inspire it in others with my tutoring!

As a child, I was fortunate to live in Spain for two years and travel in various parts of Europe. As an adult, I have spent time in the South Pacific. Always with me, whether on the road or in the air, I carried a book. I hope to instill such a love for reading, for information or pleasure in all my students. I am passionate about this and so decided to get my Master's in Education with a Reading Endorsement. After working in public schools for nine years, I went back to school and obtained a TESOL endorsement. I have tutored people aged 5 to 75 and am driven by seeing this love for reading grow in many of my students over the years. With all of the coursework I've completed in the areas of language development and usage, I am highly qualified in the area of Language Arts as well, and have taught high school and college aged students in literature and English composition. Any teacher will tell you that working one on one with students is the most enjoyable. That is why I choose, at this point, to work with individuals and small groups of all ages. The great satisfaction I receive from this work drives me, and I will, I hope, continue to do this for many years to come.

I have a PhD and have been tutoring for 10 years. I believe all students can learn, improve their test scores, and feel better about their abilities to succeed as students. I have been supporting struggling students since 2009:I have worked as an AVID tutor for APS, as a Behavior Management Specialist with Desert Hills, and as a tutor at UNM's Center for Academic Support. I have been ABQ Charter Academy's English Intervention Instructor since 2011. I offer one-on-one, customized instruction for scholars who experience difficulty reading. I also run ABQCA's Dual College Credit program, through which scholars can earn credit in high school and college simultaneously. I hold a BA in English Literature from UNM, a Level I Teaching License, and a Level III Pre-K Educational Assistant License. I am also currently studying for my massage license. I love reading, writing poetry, writing blogs, editing, and proofreading. I love the outdoors, music, biking, hiking, and enjoying life wherever an adventure takes me.

I am a graduate of New Mexico State University where I received my Bachelor's Degrees in Science. I hold a Master's of Science from the University of Missouri at Columbia. Finally, I have a Juris Doctor from the University of New Mexico. I am especially good at teaching elementary school subjects, middle school subjects, high school subjects, prep school tests, GED, ACT, and LSAT. I am currently working on a Business Management program. I strongly believe that learning should never cease and that everyday gives us the chance to learn something. I have a varied background in science and the arts which makes me perfect for teaching many subjects. If that isn't enough, I have homeschooled for 7 years and been a private tutor for 25, including the last year here at Varsity. I enjoy teaching because it gives back to the community.

I became a teacher to be around learning and knowledge and I fell in love with kids after that. Now I am in teaching to allow students to discover how they were meant to contribute to the world in their lifetime. I am well suited for this role because I understand that socio emotional health comes first and I am good at fortifying that in people, so they can move forward with a positive relationship to learning.

I have over ten years education experience working with all age groups around the globe. I started working in the Cincinnati Public Schools at the middle school and high school levels teaching English and Math. I then went on to teach four years in the Peace Corps living and working in the Federated States of Micronesia and Jordan. This included teaching at public and private universities.Back in the United States I have taught GRE and LSAT prep classes for individual students preparing for graduate school. I graduated with a masters degree from the University of Chicago. Since then I have been an instructor teaching MBA students at New Mexico State University. I am comfortable teaching a wide variety of subjects and look forward to the opportunity of working with many students to come

I am a special ed Algebra 1 high school teacher. I understand what students struggle with, especially when it comes to learning disabilities as I have ADHD and have trouble with focusing. I have privately tutored grade levels K-12 as well as a few college students.I love music, mostly hip hop/rap. Whether I am at home or in the car, I am always listening to something. Health is important to me and I enjoy lifting and running. I used to play soccer when I was younger, and ran cross country and track in high school.I have a lot of patience and am easy to get along with. My clients always feel comfortable with me and I am good at adapting the conversation so that you have a positive learning experience.

I have a Masters in Clinical Psychology and a Bachelors in Writing from the University of Southern California. As a Writer and Editor for over 20 years, and experience as a trained Mental Health Counselor, I have a great deal of knowledge about writing, editing, reading, and psychology. I have a strong grasp of the English language, excellent grammar skills, and am proficient in reading and writing. I enjoy tutoring kids of all ages and helping them advance, particularly in the areas of English, Reading, Writing and Editing, and Psychology.
