I am currently a 6th grade ELA teacher with a Bachelors Degree from Loyola University Maryland in Elementary Education. I also have a Master's Degree in Literacy from Loyola University Maryland. I taught first and second grade for a combined 6 years in Baltimore City before moving to New Jersey and teaching 6th grade ELA. I have a passion for teaching the foundational skills of reading including phonemic awareness and phonics, as well as higher level comprehension skills. In my free time I enjoy spending time outside, especially with a good book in my hand!

My primary aim in life is to always strive to become a better person. I do this be being a lifelong learner of both academic and social wisdom. It is this drive that pushed me through my studies of English and Philosophy while at Saint Peter's University, and my studies of Education while completing my master's degree at Montclair State University. The drive to become a better person includes a desire to leave the world a better place than I found it. I do this through holding myself to high standards when it comes to kindness and helping others.I invite others to grow with me as I use the knowledge and skills I picked up in my studies, and during my experience as an educator. I have experience as a head classroom teacher, an assistant teacher and a tutor. My formal professional experience has been in grades one through high school, both in the states and in China. I am a recent Rutgers graduate with degrees in Genetics and Psychology. I used to be a middle school math teacher. Even though I enjoyed learning, my passions do lie in math, science, and psychology.Not everyone learns the same way, so I make sure to align my teaching methods to a student's learning style. I love working with new students and aligning my lessons to their passions!

I am a rising sophomore at Brown University seeking a dual degree in bio-statistics and public health. I never thought it would be possible for me to receive an Ivy League education. All my life my father stressed to me that receiving an education was the only way for me to succeed and climb in this world. That is exactly what I kept in my mind as I worked diligently throughout high school, became the valedictorian, and was accepted to Brown University.I discovered early on my knack for teaching others since I self taught myself countless math and science subjects in high school. People would always seek my help because I could explain the information in a way that was clear and applicable. I understand how frustrating it can be to learn something new or master complex equations and chemical principles. I was not born a genius, like Einstein, but I have realized that true hard work and dedication can get you far in your education. I instill these values in all my students and I deeply enjoy watching them succeed through every new problem they encounter.I have tutored for four years in chemistry, physics, math, English, and statistics. I have also tutored students in SAT prep, and the techniques I employ have worked for every student I have taught.
