I am a PhD graduate student currently studying analytical chemistry at Howard University. I have a Bachelors and Masters degree in Chemistry and have always found science interesting. My first teaching experience started while I was an undergraduate student. During that time, I participated as an executive board member in Howard Universitys chapter of the American Chemical Society in which I provided tutoring services to undergraduate general chemistry students. As a graduate student, I work as a teacher's assistant in general, analytical, and organic chemistry labs. I assist students inside and outside of the lab and grade papers. I enjoy teaching and have found that the art of teaching is being able to draw a mental picture in another persons mind in order for the person to truly understand a concept. The research I do in graduate school involves the study of inorganic complexes that mimic the catalytic properties of metalloenzymes. I enjoy basketball, pool and working out during my spare time.

I am currently a fourth year medical student at the University of Maryland. I've always loved to teach. I think one of the most exciting things about learning is to be able to pass it on to others. It is also one of the main reasons I have a passion for becoming a doctor.I went to University of Maryland, College Park for college and majored in English and Biology, my two favorite subjects. I also minored in Spanish.

I was born in St. Louis, MO but when I was 6 months old my parents moved back to Ghana where I lived till the age of 16. When I arrived in the USA I knew I was behind educationally. One thing I had lots of was desire and determination to become a medical doctor. Without my tutors I would not have made it. In medical school I volunteered at a GED center in Harrisburg, PA. I realized my first love: "teaching." As a physician you must be able to teach your patients, aspiring medical students and your staff. In 2010 I was appointed an Adjunct Professor at the Uniformed Services University. I was the team lead in Tropical Medicine for the team that went to Ghana. I have a BS in Biology from Lebanon Valley College Annville PA, MD from Penn State College of Medicine Hershey PA, MTM&H from Uniformed Services University and currently a Masters in Project Management student at the University of Maryland, College Park. I love teaching and as a side effect I love learning.

I'm a MA candidate in International Economics and China Studies at Johns Hopkins, and an aspiring foreign policy professional. My approach to tutoring emphasizes big picture ideas and building a student's sense of intuition. My best professors and teachers have emphasized that it takes more than memorization to be a good learner. Likewise, I try to make students comfortable with the subjects that they learn and help them feel like they're capable of navigating subjects on their own when studying, practicing, or doing homework. Some of my subjects include Economics, English, World History, and Chinese. Because my professional field emphasizes an interdisciplinary approach, I like to stay curious about these subjects and consider myself a lifelong learner of just about any subject, both quantitative and qualitative. Outside of tutoring and projects in my field, I enjoy reading novels and short fiction, watching baseball and baking batches of oatmeal chocolate chip cookies.

I am an experienced tutor who has worked with elementary to college level students. I also spent a lot of time teaching and training NAVY personnel how to operate submarines and aircraft carriers in a one on one format. Through my experience I have gained a deeper understanding of how to adapt my teaching style to fit a student's individual needs. I enjoy helping students of all ages and learning levels, and I like to see the pride they take in completing difficult tasks. When I'm not working you can usually find me hanging out with my two dogs and some friends, playing sports, or relaxing at the movie theater. Subjects I currently tutor are algebra, trigonometry, geometry, elementary and middle school math, homework support, history, and science.

Throughout my entire life, I have always found myself in a position of teaching others, while continuing to learn myself. I attribute this to a natural gravitation towards teaching that I have acquired from my father, who is a teacher at the Cecil County School of Technology. In high school, I fostered my verbal communications and interpersonal skills by performing as the Anchoring Lawyer in the Mock Trial Team, motivating teammates as Captain of the Varsity Football Team, and leading classmates as a member of the Student Government Executive Board. My time at the Johns Hopkins University as a Mechanical Engineering Student has resulted in an immense acquisition of mathematical expertise. Mathematical coursework includes Calculus I, Calculus II, Calculus II, Linear Algebra and Differential Equations, and Statistics for Engineering Majors. Additionally, my Mechanical Engineering coursework has required the consistent use of multivariable calculus and complex algebraic analysis. I have found that my skills have grown extensively through these courses, as I apply my mathematical knowledge each and every day of my studies. Additionally, I have held multiple positions in the Johns Hopkins Chapter of the Alpha Delta Phi, with the most recent being Philanthropy Chair. This position requires me to network, speak in public, and organize charity events for the benefit of the less fortunate. These experiences, among others, make me an excellent tutor.

I am a graduate of Grinnell College. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Biology. Since graduation, I have worked as a Clinical Technician at Johns Hopkins Hospital and gained a lot of knowledge about the field of healthcare. Since I am passionate about medicine and healthcare, I am enrolled and looking forward to obtaining my Masters in Physician Assistant in the next two years. Along with my passion for medicine, I love sharing and teaching any form of knowledge I have to others. I have experience teaching dance classes to adults and children, editing/reviewing many of my friends' personal statements/college essays, helping my classmates with general biology/ anatomy & physiology, and teaching middle school students math and English/ESL. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about English/ESL (including college personal statements/essay writing), high school/college general biology, and middle school math (pre-algebra, algebra, geometry). As someone who is a Nepealse immigrant that strived to receive higher education in the states, education is everything for me. However, I believe that the passion for education needs to come from within. Thus, when tutoring my students, I think it is crucial that the tutor teaches and shares their knowledge, but students also need to do their part. This includes being active learners and training their minds to be critical thinkers, which will help students gain a better knowledge of the subjects they are weak in. In my spare time, I enjoy activities like dancing, playing badminton, and watching Bollywood movies!
