I have a bachelor's degree in General Anthropology from Grinnell College, A master's degree in Cultural Anthropology from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and finally, a doctoral degree in Anthropological Archaeology from the University of Michigan based on archaeological research I conducted in India at the great late medieval/early modern South Indian imperial capital of Vijayanagara in its 16th-century heyday one of the largest cities in the world.Despite the anthropological emphasis of my academic training, however, I have spent much of the past 11 years teaching as an instructor in the History Department at the University of Arkansas, where my teaching activities have focused on global surveys of ancient civilizations and courses on the history and culture of early India. In recent years, I have also extended my reach to the modern era with courses on Modern Imperialism, Colonial India, and most recently, a course on the History of Beer and Brewing.Perhaps the most enjoyable aspects of teaching for me lie in the opportunity to share with students my fascination with investigating the immensely diverse civilizations that humans have created over the millennia and in imparting to students a sense of how we know what we think we know about these early civilizations in a manner that combines the methods and data of both history and archaeology. In my spare time I enjoy reading (both fiction and non-fiction), listening to varied musical genres, playing the trombone, hiking, cycling, cooking South Asian dishes, and home-brewing - the last a hobby that I have pursued for over 30 years as the result of the opportunity to study abroad in England as an undergraduate.

I've been tutoring for over a decade with my most intensive tutoring being over the last year and a half. My passion for education started to unearth itself as I earned my BS in Biology and BA in Philosophy from the University of Miami and graduated to work at the John P. Hussman Institute for Human Genomics. It was here I was published for my work involving reprogramming autistic blood cells to stem cells, and then to neurons. I realized that I really loved sharing my work and teaching it to others. I went on to earn my Master's of Science in Biotechnology from Rush University and started to share this passion and energy of mine with others. Before starting my PhD, I decided I wanted to share science with the world and began my first scientific media project, Biolitics podcast and Biolitics.org. I left my PhD a few months after starting to build my media company and tutor full time. Not only do I truly love seeing my children succeed, I love being able to use my ability to teach and teach well to help support my dreams. I have the fortune of tutoring students one on one and then taking my passion for education behind the microphone to share with the world. I'm a strong public speaker and my high energy and charisma helps keeps my students engaged.

I'm a senior working towards B.S. in Biology, secondary major in Spanish, and minors in chemistry and bioethics at Case Western Reserve University. I'm originally from Naperville, IL, and attended Neuqua Valley and IMSA. I have several years of tutoring experience with high school students in biology, chemistry, and writing, as well as teaching experience with nursing and pre-medical college students, teaching biology and chemistry as a Supplemental Instruction Leader and Teaching Assistant. The subjects I tutor are the subjects I love; biology, chemistry, Spanish, and the LSAT. My approach to tutoring is to ensure the student is able to dynamically problem-solve by and for themselves and walks away with a deeper understanding of not just the "what" of the material but the "why". I believe it's important to understand the student's goals in the wider context of what the course or exam will ask of them, and tailor my approach to their individual learning style and needs. Resources I typically use include worksheets I create with conceptual and factual problems for the student to work through, building from small concepts like definitions up towards more challenging problems to check their understanding requiring synthesis and application of several concepts.

Hi I'm a recent college graduate navigating this post-grad life as best as possible. In the venture to find my passion I am engaging myself in as many interests as I can - teaching being one of them. I have always had an interest in teaching because the feeling of helping a student achieve their "light bulb" moment is extremely rewarding. As your tutor I hope to not only help you to understand subject matter but to also inspire a love of education and knowledge. In addition to teaching I enjoy being a student as well. Currently, I am trying to learn both French and Spanish and every month I try to read a book about a completely new subject. On my free time - oh wait I have no free time (LOL). That's right, I'm a bit of a workaholic so that means that my schedule is full at all times. I recognize that time is of the essence and therefore I make every effort to be as productive as possible.I'm also an inspirational quotes nerd! So here I will end with one:~ "Strive for excellence and success will follow"

I am a junior at the University of Illinois at Chicago Honors College, where I am pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Bioengineering with a focus in cell and tissue engineering. During high school, I worked in the literacy center, where I tutored fellow classmates and helped them with any classes that they were having trouble with. I enjoy tutoring because I acknowledge the two-way nature of it. Not only does tutoring help a tutee learn certain material, it also helps me master some old concepts. While I tutor a variety of subjects, one of my favorites is mathematics. I love teaching this subject because its concrete and builds problem-solving skills. I think that education is one of the most important facets of life since it directly shapes our future. With this in mind, I attempt to teach my students to the best of my ability. During my free time, I enjoy biking, playing the violin, and watching sports.

Making sense of difficult material not only makes for a challenge but also a sense of accomplishment. I take the approach that most material that is perceived as difficult is only viewed that way due to the way the material is presented. I tend to break concepts down using common language and parallel those concepts with information that is already well understood. Most importantly, I feel that the information is interesting and engaging and I try to present it in exactly that manner.I have a broad range of educational experience as I started my college life attending art school to pursue a degree in traditional animation for making films. Although I did not finish my degree in animation, I did acquire some unique skills and experiences in the realm of fine art and drawing.I started pursuing subjects that interested me and was specifically pulled toward the sciences. I was lucky to have had several exceptional teachers and their guidance inspired me to obtain a degree in Chemistry. It was during this path to obtain my Bachelor's degree that I was introduced to my favorite subject, Organic Chemistry. The instructor that I had for Organic Chemistry was amazing and made the class not only amusing and interesting but also fun. The experience of understanding Organic Chemistry inspired me to pursue a Master's degree specifically in this subject. While in graduate school, I was a teaching assistant and this was very rewarding for me as I had the opportunity to share the knowledge that I had gained over my college years and pass that information on to students that were currently taking the class. It was this experience that caused me to realize that I really had a passion for teaching. To see how grateful students were to have me help them understand Chemistry was more fulfilling that any other employment experience that I have ever had.I am currently an instructor of Organic Chemistry at a local community college and I am looking forward to what the future holds in store.
