I graduated with my BA from Ithaca College in central New York State where I studied sociology and Spanish. Someday, I hope to be a professor, and I am currently a first-year sociology PhD student. I am passionate about using my research, interests, and hobbies to help others. While I am most comfortable tutoring basic math, English, Spanish (high school and college), and core sociology courses, I am also a strong writer and have experience with academic-style writing. I love helping others learn, and I believe that education is the first step in imparting social change. In my spare time, I enjoy solving Rubik's cubes, baseball, golf, and music.

I am a graduate of The University of Texas at El Paso. I received my Bachelor in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus in English Language Arts and Reading. Since graduation, I have earned my ESOL and Reading Certifications added onto my teaching degree. As a tutor, the most passionate subjects that I have taught the last 15 years as an educator; they are Reading and Writing, focusing on ESOL students and Intensive Reading students. I am a "firm, fair, and friendly," educator, that the 'student' will enjoy and eventually learn new reading strategies within my lessons. This will help improve the student's reading and writing scores at the end of the year assessments.

With seven years experience as an English and History teacher, I have proofread countless essays and writing prompts. I am a tutor of college entrance essays for local teens, and I also review documents for a local business before they are listed for press release. In addition to these experiences, I have braved many open-mic poetry slams for over a decade. I have even been interviewed by the New York Times and ESPN for work in my family's business!

I recently received my BA from Ohio State University, and am now working full-time in Washington, DC. I plan to later study for a Master's degree, and have already taken the GRE.I studied French and Political Science at Ohio State, and lived for some time in France. As such, I have gained an appreciation for the road to fluency and mastery of the French language, and believe I can effectively put this knowledge to use when tutoring French. Furthermore, having taken and done well on both the ACT and the GRE, I am able to show students how to best prepare for these tests by helping them understand how the writers of these tests seek to challenge the test taker. Test taking can involve a lot of repetition and practice, but I strive to help students see the underlying patterns and tricks of the questions. I also have experience with public speaking--I gave speeches to large audiences and "special guests" on two official occasions--and can not only help students with delivery but also with mental preparation. As a Political Science student, I have written many essays on various topics, including development and environmental politics, and as such can advise students on both the technical and more abstract aspects of essay writing. I also tutored young children between the ages of 8-10 at an after school program in France, "Les Enfants de la Goutte d'or," and enjoy helping my friends with their English on an informal basis.I really enjoy all learning that involves language acquisition, and understand the limitations of learning in a classroom. In my tutoring, I aim to move a bit beyond what a student might learn in their classes, and always try to make the learning experience personalized and enjoyable for the student. My interests include international affairs, reading diverse types of media, running, swimming, cooking, and meeting new people.

Entertainment is a very important part of my life. Some of my favorite things to do include playing & watching sports, writing TV/movie scripts - as well as watching them, performing and watching stand-up comedy, and listening to music - as well as making the occasional (awful, but fun) rap song. Because of all of this, I strive to bring entertainment to tutoring - if you have an interest in sports, I will relate learning and the academic subject itself to sports. The same goes for any of your interests - I will bring out the fun in them. Learning should not be a tedious chore, it should be a fun, enriching experience. For the same reason you can probably recite your favorite movie line-for-line, but can't seem to remember when the Magna Carta was signed: We tend to be much better at remembering things we enjoy!

I am currently a graduating senior at Centennial High School. I plan on studying for a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science at a top 20 university, with a focus on education technologies. I've always been passionate about education, founding an organization called Pyoneers that directly teaches programming to hundreds of students. We have held a combination of virtual and in-person lessons, resulting in semester long workshops at local middle schools. I am also the President of our school's National Math Honor Society, an organization dedicated to promoting the education and enjoyment of math to younger students. Every time I tutor students privately or through these organizations, I find it extremely rewarding when a student finally understands a new concept, or applies a concept I have taught them to a real-world scenario. Though I particularly love to tutor students in programming (especially Python or Java) and all levels of math up to Calculus BC, I also find it enjoyable to tutor students in SAT English and Math. I believe in a project based and interactive approach to education, in which students talk as much as tutors, leading to them fully comprehending topics. Outside of tutoring, I enjoy playing the violin (I can teach music lessons as well!), hanging out with friends, programming, and playing Ultimate Disc.

I am a recent medical school graduate, working on research and my master's degree for the next year before beginning my residency. I have some free time off, due to my classes being online, and am able to customize my tutoring sessions according to my students' learning needs and availability. I am very flexible when it comes to my teaching styles and will cater to your needs. I have been a tutor for 10 years now. I started off by tutoring middle school students in math and science, but through college and medical school I have grown in my skills and now tutor in many different subjects. After taking multiple standardized exams: SAT, MCAT, STEP 1 USMLE, and Step 2 USMLE Board exam and passing them I am very comfortable to say I will help you surpass your standardized test score goal and help in your organization skills as well. Given that I am in medical school my strong suits are math and sciences. In college, I have taken Calc and Statistics, and I have also taken a full year of Physics. I was a Biology major with a Psychology minor, therefore I offer tutoring for all Biology or Science courses up to the graduate school level and Psychology up to the undergraduate level. With all my psychology background and writing labs/ doctor write-ups, I am well-informed in Microsoft programming, Google Docs, MLA, and APA formatting. I also know how to edit programs and presentations. I recently presented at my medical school's Science Day research conference for a research project I have been working on about the statistical significance of the various COVID-19 testing methods. I hope to be a great fit for you and to be a great mentor for your future academic career!

Hello!I've been working with kids and teens since I was a teen myself. Beginning with summers spent at a remote wilderness camp, overseeing a rambunctious cabin and leading extensive expeditions, and leading into my study of education, writing, communication and social work in college (alongside theatre, dance and music), I've continually found opportunities to involve myself in teaching and counseling.I started The Writer's Workshop, a tutoring program for young writers in the community surrounding Millikin University, a housing project in Ecuador for displaced mothers and children, and a freelance business as a casting director specializing in kids and on-set performance coaching.I tutored at Bread & Roses Advocacy Center in college, was the Spanish teacher for the afterschool K-6th A.C.E. program (Associates in Cultural Exchange), created and edited material for the online education company Apex Learning, ran an afterschool arts program at Sayre Beacon High School, and instructed youth skiing at the Canyons Resort (now Park City Mountain). From there, I went on to coach debate teams and judge regional tournaments with the Western Bay Forensics League, guest lecture in the arts with various universities, and am now intermittently teaching and tutoring in Manhattan and Brooklyn with Behind The Book.Outside of teaching and performing, I write everyday, have a mentor at The New York Times, am entrenched in the professional published poets circle, advise and edit scripts for screenwriters, and absolutely love helping others develop their voice, style, verbage and language intuition.I am a quick and informative editor when it comes to tightening a piece, or rather embellishing creative writing to include further imagery and voice. And as for said voice, I'm an actor and host who has been public speaking all my life. I'd love to help bring comfort and joy to the experience of speaking in front of others in any capacity.Outside the necessary concepts and mechanics guidance, I believe in creating an engaging environment in which my students can reach for conclusions themselves; expansive creativity being the goal.Let's have fun!
