While I was an undergraduate student, I was fortunate to spend a year studying abroad in Seville, Spain, and thoroughly enjoyed immersing myself in the Spanish language and culture. After graduating from UW, I spent two years working in clinical and academic research at the UW-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health, and one year as an Emergency Medicine Scribe. I am currently a 4th year medical student applying and interviewing for residency. I am passionate about medicine and completely understand the difficulty students may face when preparing for the USMLE and COMLEX exams. These different positions have pushed me to broaden my perspective on how to communicate with students and address the topics they do not understand. While my educational background has more than prepared me to understand the basics of the science subjects that my students were studying, my goal as an instructor reaches beyond simply teaching the lesson; I also aim to spark my student's interests in the subject and make the lesson fun for them. As someone who has studied Mandarin Chinese for three years, I understand the difficulty of acquiring a new language and the importance of immersion in the language as opposed to rote memorization of vocabulary words.
