I received an ordination in ministry in 2013 and am currently working towards a degree in Christian Worship at Malone University which includes Theology, Hermeneutics, Team Building, Spiritual Formation, and Pastoral Counseling. I started my college career studying Psychology at Kent State University in 1999. My tutoring experience includes working as an online writing tutor and beginner Biblical Greek tutor.I have also led teams of younger students for Community Worship at Malone University where I led a team of 8 and mentored an understudy in Worship and leading Worship.My philosophy is to help teach and lead the student to their own discovery and understanding of a subject or problem or written work.When I am not tutoring, I like to write, read, refurbish furniture, decorate, cook and host company, go horseback riding, sing, and spend time quality time with those close to me.

I believe in education, and I believe in every student having confidence that he or she is smart and capable. My hope is for every student to follow his or her goals and ambitions. I went through the competitive New York City private school atmosphere at Friends Seminary through to Boston College, where I graduated Cum Laude as an English Major. Having played sports and music on top of academics in middle and high school, I know the pressure that young students in this city face. I understand their burden. My goal is to work with students so that they believe can succeed and be proud of themselves. I want students in New York to feel free amidst the overwhelming expectations to get into college. I will work with the student so that we both feel stimulated by a difficult subject. As a current acting student, I understand now more than ever that true learning is being able to make mistakes and learn from them. Any student that works with me will be free to make a mistake, so that he or she will learn from it.

I think education is one of the greatest actions we can take to improve our societies. I am a natural born teacher and was frequently the individual my peers turned to when struggling with classroom material. I have always found joy when a student reaches the 'aha' moment of understanding something they struggle with.I received my BS in Environmental Biology from SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry, where I tutored General Chemistry and was a TA for Dendrology. In addition, I was always a year ahead in my math in high school, taking the honors classes and I also received a 5 on my AP Calculus AB exam.I mainly tutor Math and Science, including Algebra and Biology. There are two main components to my tutoring style that help students understand and remember material:1. I try to break down concepts and transform them into something more relatable to the student. By replacing unfamiliar jargon with familiar subjects, I find it easiest to understand more difficult concepts or processes.2. Practice! Nothing beats the tried and true repetition. This helps fine tune procedures and sheds light on areas students struggle with, allowing me to reiterate or re-explain tougher material.In addition, I love to cook, dance, practice yoga, and dabble in nature photography!

I tutored students ranging from kindergarten to adult in math, reading, study skills, and test prep at a National learning center for seven years. I have been tutoring independently for three years. My current subjects include elementary and middle school math, pre-Algebra, Algebra Algebra 2, Geometry, study skills and ACT test prep. I want students to succeed and understand math. I've tutored people who were native speakers of French, Spanish, German, and Hungarian, among European languages; and of Japanese, Korean, and Chinese, among Asian languages.And, actually, tutoring for SAT Prep and helping people improve their grades in high school English is not so different from that. When I do that kind of tutoring, I emphasize features of the very complicated English verb system such as colloquial phrasal verbs and their more formal equivalents ("to go back"/"to return").Of course, every student is different, and each teaching situation is different, so I bring to each session a prepared lesson that both reviews the previous lesson and works on new problems and ideas.

My teaching style tends to be Socratic; I like to use guiding questions to help students grow their comprehension and problem solving skills.

But I began to gain more confidence about it through the encouragement of my tutor. She was able to keep me motivated and gave me the confidence I needed to succeed. So when got into High School I decided to start tutoring and mentoring myself to give back to my community like so many people had did for me.So now I tutor to help enrich my community and to help students gain the confidence and motivation they need to succeed in life.
