The student is preparing for a math placement test for her new school and reviewed real numbers, integers, the number line, prime numbers, prime factorization, absolute value, ratios, percent, radicals, exponents, mean, mode, median, etc.

SAT prep. Discussed the math and reading homework that the student completed. She did especially well in math, missing only one question. In reading, she missed only one of the vocab questions and a handful of reading questions, mainly on the more difficult passage comparisons. We spoke about the strategies for the reading section, then focused on the essay. We looked at sample essays from the book, and picked one essay topic to brainstorm for and then complete for homework.

The student and I continued to work on math preparation as well as reading practice. His math seems to be going well, but reading comprehension needs more work. We will be focusing on that for the duration of the next lesson. Homework: complete 3 short practice tests online (math, reading, writing).

We worked on graphing tangent and various permutations. We have gotten to the point where I'm anticipating what is coming in the class and were getting a jump on the stuff that should be coming up. I am also going to introduce him to the reciprocal trig functions.

I met with the student for 1.5 hours this evening. We reviewed his previous quiz and homework problems that included multiplying and dividing polynomials. Also, we covered topics such as finding the Greatest Common Factor (GCF), factoring trinomials and the FOIL method.
