Kaitlin

Certified Tutor

I received a Bachelor of Arts in Biochemistry from Smith College in 2015, and a Master of Science in Human Physiology from Boston University in 2016. I have an extensive background in the sciences, primarily biology, chemistry, anatomy, nutrition, and exercise physiology. While at BU, I was a teaching assistant in exercise physiology, providing hands-on learning techniques in an exercise physiology lab, as well as one-on-one study sessions for homework questions, writing lab reports, and test preparation. I have a deep passion for the sciences, with particular interest in biology and physiology. I am committed to helping students learn and be prepared for higher learning in the sciences. Subjects such as biology and chemistry can be very difficult, but they are often necessary requirements, and I believe they can be fun for everyone if they have can gain a stronger understanding of these subject. I love the sciences, and I want to help students feel the same passion.

What is your teaching philosophy?

Students have to learn to appreciate science and understand that knowledge is power! Science is always changing and growing, and it should be fun to delve deeper into a constantly growing field.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

Find out their particular interests, and try to tailor school subjects toward their interests. Find out what they're struggling in, and why.
