I'm here for all things math. I've been tutoring for over 2 years both at my University and in my community. I have a strong passion for both teaching and mathematics, and my dream is to eventually be a math professor at the university level. Currently I'm pursuing that dream at BYU-Idaho, completing my Bachelor of Science in Mathematics.
I've helped students of all sorts, from those who are just trying to get their generals out of the way, to those whose passion for the subject rivals my own. While I absolutely love math, I understand that many people don't feel the same way, and these have been some of my very favorite students to work with. While I can't promise that math will be your new favorite subject by the time we're done, I'll make sure that you at least don't hate it, and of course we will work together to get you the grades and scores you want.
I believe that passion develops out of a cycle of curiosity and understanding; likewise, distaste or hatred often comes from a sense of confusion or lack of understanding. With that in mind, I choose to focus much on helping you *truly* understand the subject. In other words, of course I'm going to teach you the formulas and rules you need to know, but if you'll allow me, I will also teach you why the rules work and where the formulas come from. After a few sessions, you will have a far deeper sense and understanding than you usually find in a classroom.
I cover a broad range of topics (including Algebra, Trigonometry, Statistics, Linear Algebra, etc.) but I specialize most in Calculus. Studying Calculus for the first time was what really solidified my love for mathematics because I think Calculus is when math finally starts to get really interesting; I find it to be one of the most fascinating, useful, and believe it or not, one of the most intuitive branches of mathematics out there.
Now, part of helping you to not hate math is to help you build an intuition for it. Therefore, in addition to learning Trig, or Calc, or whatever it may be, I will teach you useful tools for problem-solving that can be applied anywhere (and in every subject!). I will walk you through my own personal process for working through a problem, and by the end, you will see math in a whole new way. Ever gotten nervous at the sight of a word-problem? You can kiss those fears goodbye because I will arm you with the same tools that I've used to help hundreds of students before.

I love music; I enjoy listening to all the individual parts and hearing how they come together. I've even tried my hand at a few of my own compositions! I also love to sing. I spent all of my years in middle school and high school in choir, and have enjoyed many interstate trips to sing in various honor choirs. I love language and linguistics. The way language influences culture and vice versa is very fascinating to me. I'm also fluent in Japanese, for which I have a particular fondness. I collect Rubik's Cube-type puzzles. Very on-brand, right? Oh but they are fun. Owning a 21x21x21 puzzle cube is on my bucket list. I enjoy being creative. I've dabbled in all sorts of things from illustration, to woodworking, 3d printing, and video editing. I also quite enjoy playing games. Feel free to ask about my favorites when we meet!
