I am a recent college graduate who loves teaching and helping students learn. I have experience teaching English in Argentina, as well as experience as a teaching assistant for various subjects at the Summer Institute for the Gifted.Exploration drives much of what I do, and I believe that learning is a form of exploration - and I hope to share that mindset with my students.As a tutor, I will be very patient, understanding, and thoughtful in my approach.

I believe that learning should be an enjoyable and fulfilling experience and that the value of teachers is based on their love of the subject matter and their care for transmitting it to the student.

I am a recent graduate from The University of Georgia in Genetics with a minor in Math. Like most students prior to the start of college, I always pondered: Why do I need to take all of these math classes if I am a science major? When will I ever use this in my life? The answer came to me once I entered into college and took my first couple of math classes. I discovered that mathematics and science interchange with each other and understanding one will enable you to have a deeper comprehension of the other.I started tutoring fellow classmates throughout my high school career. The topics that I tutored ranged from pre-algebra to pre-calculus. In college, I began to tutor my classmates in Calculus I and II along with many science courses such as Biology, Organic Chemistry, and Genetics.When I teach my classmates about any topic, I will always initiate by asking them questions regarding the topic they are struggling with. This will allow me to know specifically where and what they are struggling with and need help in. Afterward, I will clearly explain and clarify any misunderstanding they have. Once they believe that they have completely understood the topic, I will then ask them to explain it to me. My main theme is that "If a student is unable to explain to me the concept, then he/she does not understand the topic." My desire to tutor others is not only to help them figure out many approaches to solve a problem or understand a concept, but I also want them to understand the importance of what they are learning and its applications to real life. This will enlighten them and make them want to learn more, not just to know the topic and stop.During my free time, I love playing basketball and going bowling with friends. One of the games that I love to play the most is Chess because it allows me to think ahead and it opens my mind to many possibilities.

Hello! My name is Peter, and I am a recent graduate of the University of Dayton. I graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Honors with Distinction and a Masters in Engineering at the University of Dayton with a special research focus in recycled plastic 3D printing. I have a strong passion for education and personalized learning, with 6 years of teaching and tutoring experience in STEM education! I am currently pursuing my Ph.D. at the University of Michigan in Design Science.My specialty subjects are geometry, physics, statics, dynamics, mechanical design, Fusion 360/Solidworks/Inventor/TinkerCAD, and algebra. Other sciences and STEM classes are encouraged as well! I hope to work with you soon!

I started tutoring when I was in high school, myself, where I volunteered as a "Big Brother", helping incoming freshmen adapt themselves to the more rigorous environment of St. Paul's. While an undergraduate at Columbia University, I taught SAT prep courses. I will be going to law school in the fall, and until then I am continuing my passion for teaching with Varsity Tutors!My tutoring style has always been to fit the lesson to the student. Whether you're studying for chemistry test or analyzing a work of literature, prepping for the SAT or the LSAT, I make sure to focus on your goals and how to reach them. I also aim to help my students really improve the knowledge of their subject along with their writing, reading, and analytic skills--not just get past the next exam.

From my experience teaching math to a range of students, from middle school through college, I know that it does not come easily to everyone. However, I firmly believe that everyone has the capability for mathematical reasoning. Everyone has their own strengths and challenges, and my job as a tutor begins with identifying these. I like to have students work through problems while I guide them and make suggestions, so that I can get a sense of what they understand and what they don't. Then we can build on their knowledge and break down the challenging parts of the problem into smaller, more manageable chunks.I hold a bachelor's degree from UChicago and a doctorate from MIT, both in mathematics. I am available to tutor Latin, physics, and all levels of math. Outside of academics, I am an avid tournament chess player, and I enjoy running and cycling.

As a classroom teacher in both special and general education, I have had the pleasure of helping students achieve their academic goals in reading, writing, mathematics, and science at the elementary and middle school level. I also have experience tutoring students in SAT/ACT test preparation in all associated sections. I am and always have been a lifetime learner and do all I can to impart this facet of myself on my students. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my wife and son, weight training, and watching movies.
