I was once in the same shoes of many Varsity Tutors' students. I was struggling to learn my subjects and preparing for the SAT standardized test. I came from a rural high school (DuBois, PA) with no AP classes as well as no Honors classes. I was projected that engineering would be too difficult for me and that I should pursue something less rigorous. I ended up graduating with a Honors degree in chemical engineering and a minor in mathematics from the Pennsylvania State University. I then received a Ph.D. in chemical engineering from Carnegie Mellon University doing all of my research work with Sandia National Laboratories. I achieved these goals by setting high expectations for myself and striving every day to meet these expectations. I am a tutor that predominantly focuses on STEM and Business subjects from high school through graduate school as well as standardized tests. I really do not have a favorite subject here. I just enjoy teaching students who desire to learn and improve themselves. When I was an undergraduate student as well as a teaching assistant in graduate school teaching first semester students, I could take a person the night before the exam that had no clue of what was going on in class and help them achieve a B on the exam the next day. Standardized tests such as the SAT/ACT exam comprise various courses in high school and I cannot teach someone everything they need to know in one night or if a person is weeks behind in the understanding of the course material. Whether it is a standardized test or learning another subject; an assessment must be determined of where the student is currently in their understanding of the material. Next a game plan must be put together to get the student from where they are currently at to where they want to go. The fact of the matter is unless a student has always struggled in mathematics since kindergarten, they can achieve a perfect or near perfect score on the SAT/ACT mathematics section. The only traits that are required are a high level of expectations as well as the desire and effort to achieve those expectations. When it comes to solving problems, I will always ask the student on how they would solve a particular problem. Their answers can range that they definitely know how to solve it to they have absolutely no idea. I would then guide them along through each problem with the goal to have them understand a correct approach needed and to instill in the student a better understanding of the material as time goes along. As far as more information about myself, I am a person that enjoys learning and growing in all pursuits and my favorite hobby is working out and lifting weights at my local Planet Fitness. Additional Information: I am a STEM based tutor for Varsity Tutors in which I tutor everything from entry level to advanced subjects in Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, all Engineering disciplines, and MBA courses. I am continuously adding both courses in an individual field as well as fields themselves to tutor. I tutor from 6th grade to graduate school as well as students with mental disabilities. I help students from inner city schools to the top boarding schools in the US to state public universities as well as the ivy league. I work with students at international universities along with international students in the US as well as adults going back to school.

My favorite moment as a tutor is when the student stops looking at me like I'm crazy and light up with understanding. I have been tutoring since my sophomore year of high school and have grown to love it. I have been a private tutor, worked in a local tutoring center, and helped in my high school math lab as well as my college math lab. I am currently studying mechanical engineering with a minor in math at Brigham Young University Provo campus. Throughout my tenure as a math tutor, I have worked with students of all ages: elementary school to high school, college students, and middle-aged GED seekers.

As a student myself, I understand the needs and expectations of other students. My philosophy is that there is there is nothing that you can't learn; the difficulties are just a part of the process. I know that schools and universities cannot always cater to every single students' learning style, so that is what I will go above and beyond to do.

My dreams and aspirations are around science and medicine.Even though my career has taken various turns, my passion was in teaching. I completed my high school diploma and graduated from Palmetto Senior High. I got into Miami Dade College, where I enrolled in the science department and majored in biology.During my first semester at Miami Dade College, I won a full tennis scholarship, which helped with tuition and books. After graduating with an Associate of Arts degree, I won another tennis scholarship to St. Thomas University. There, I completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology. As an athlete, I traveled frequently. I was fortunate to experience many different cultures and meet people of various backgrounds. It has enabled me to be flexible and versatile to unexpected turns and twists in life. Maturity provided a stable ground that kept me in the direction I face today.During my college attendance, I volunteered for Jackson Memorial and Baptist Hospital of Miami. It was there that I devoted my time and energy to humanity. I developed a vast understanding of the world of medicine. I volunteered many hours in The Burn Center, Trauma Unit, Pediatric, ICU, ER, and Pathology.cI then got accepted to Barry University, where I received a Master's degree in biomedical sciences. The education and experience I have received have given me the confidence, knowledge, and well-rounded background in medicine and science.I then entered medical college (Xavier University School of Medicine), which provides the knowledge and art of healing the human body. It encompassed many healthcare practices developed to sustain and restore an individual's health.I finally graduated with my MD degree. I could not imagine not being a part of such an exciting, exhilarating, and rewarding field as science and medicine.

~ The Technion Institute of Technology; Faculty of Medicine - Doctor of Medicine (11/23)~ Mercer University Graduate School - Master of Public Health degree candidate (2023)~ CUNY Brooklyn College (05/2014) - Bachelor of Arts in BiologyHi!Thank you for allowing me to introduce myself. Recently, I graduated from medical school, and I am currently in my initial training (internship year) to become a pediatric oncologist. The two major passions I have in my life have always been medicine and education, especially about the training of students and the teaching of students effectively. I especially love to work with students on taking standardized exams.I am so glad to be a part of this community. I absolutely love teaching and always have. My track record speaks for itself. Over the past 11 years, I have been working as a hired and private tutor for both schools and private clients. During this time, I worked with students of all ages, ranging from middle school students to physicians preparing for the licensing examination of medical schools. My experience tutoring at many places and circumstances has given me a lot of knowledge and experience about the process of learning and how to help my students succeed in all their areas, especially the one they are most interested in.The goal for me is to give my students skills and knowledge that will be useful for them beyond one subject or exam. This is especially useful for students who have some school left. Earlier students have always appreciated this, and it has proven to be very successful. I am looking forward to working with students here at Varsity, and I am confident in my ability to get any student through the semester/exam etc. have the same skills and knowledge to all of you here at Varsity. I am very much looking forward!A bit about me. I attended CUNY Brooklyn College and earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology here.I have completed medical school and simultaneously earned a masters in public health degree from Mercer University. I attended the Technion Institute of Technology Faculty of Medicine in Israel for my medical studies, and beginning the process to begin residency. (Grad was August 2023).Professionally I was hired as a tutor for biology chemistry physics, especially the MCAT exam by my undergrad university for three years.Additionally, I founded my own tutoring business over ten years ago that was focused to the community. I grew up in which did not have many opportunities to pursue academic higher education. This opportunity to share my passion for teaching has been incredibly rewarding for me.My tutoring process is student-centered with an emphasis on each student's learning style to help them achieve higher levels of success. As an educator, I am extremely passionate about what I do, and I look forward to assisting students in flourishing academically in the future.

I enjoy tutoring students because I love to make people feel valued, empowered and loved. Having tutored the past 4 years by helping friends through college, I understand how to help with different ages and subjects. I graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma with a Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology and will be pursuing a Master in Business Administration from Fort Hays State University. My style of tutoring is trial and error through hands on learning. I like to teach students material and then empower them to learn from their mistakes. I believe that this helps the concepts to be better absorbed and remembered by the student. With this being said, I also love to encourage my students while they learn so that they do not get discouraged. I enjoy learning and growing so that I can reach my full potential in life and I want to help my students to the same!

I am a graduate of Appalachian State University. I received my B.S. in Applied physics and my M.S. in Engineering Physics with a focus in Laboratory Automation. I worked as a TA for intro physics and electronics labs and am currently teaching math courses for an after-school program for accelerated students. My passion for math and physics has led to me greatly enjoying teaching others and watching them discover the laws that govern the world we live in. My teaching style involves leading students with questions to find the answers themselves. Understanding the underlying concepts is the key to mastery, not just memorization of equations and formulas.

I bring a unique blend of academic excellence and professional expertise to tutoring, with three advanced degrees, a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering (graduating magna cum laude and third in my class), a Master's in Computer Science specializing in Cognitive Artificial Intelligence, and an MBA in Finance with a focus on investment analysis. My academic journey began with tutoring my younger siblings in Math and Science, which grew into leading study groups of up to 50 students across grades 612. Over time, I expanded my teaching to college-level Physics, Mathematics, and Applied Mechanics, helping students connect complex theories to real-world applications.Throughout graduate school, I served as a teaching and research assistant, tutoring freshmen and sophomores in core subjects such as Algebra, Calculus, Statistics, and Physics. My teaching philosophy is rooted in Educational Essentialism, a structured, progressive approach that equips students to master increasingly difficult concepts while preparing them for higher academic and intellectual challenges. Recognized for academic excellence, including receiving the CITGO Graduate Student Award, I emphasize critical thinking and problem-solving skills that extend beyond the classroom. In addition to academic tutoring, I bring more than 20 years of professional experience in finance, engineering, and data-driven problem solving. I am proficient in QuickBooks, financial modeling, and exam preparation for competitive assessments such as the SAT, ACT, GRE, SHSAT, and FINRA licensing exams (SIE, Series 7, and Series 79). Whether guiding a high school student through Calculus or helping a professional prepare for a finance certification, I create a personalized, engaging learning environment where students build confidence and achieve measurable results.
