I approach each tutoring job with the question, “What needs to happen for this particular student to understand this material.” Having taught undergraduates at U.C. Berkeley and middle- and high-school students at the Treasure Island Boys and Girls Club in San Francisco, I have experience working with students from a variety of backgrounds and I know that every one is unique. Further, my goal as a tutor is not merely to impart information, but to guide the student through the learning process so that they can master the subject matter themselves. This requires a highly personalized approach. First, I identify the specific areas where the student needs help, then I craft exercises tailored to the student’s particular learning style. In today's world, learning a foreign language is not only beneficial, but it's a necessity. A lot of students look at learning a language as "extra", and sometimes as a chore, but it's a skill that will benefit them for years to come.It's important to get to know what motivates a learner and what interests them to find out how those things might assist in their learning process. I like to spend the first time meeting with a student to find some ways to spark their interest and show them what learning a language can do for them. The wonderful thing about learning a language is that it can be catered to any topic or interest!

I have just completed my sophomore year at the University of Michigan majoring in Mechanical Engineering. I have lived in Ann Arbor my entire life, graduating from Pioneer High School in 2018. During my senior year of high school, I was an after school tutor for elementary students and also was a part of the Trailblazers program, mentoring a child over the course of a school year. I am most passionate about Math and Physics, two subjects that are the building blocks of innovation in society. In my free time, I love both watching and playing sports, especially baseball and basketball.

Throughout my time in both college and high school I have experienced the frustration and pains of students, whether it be myself or my friends. I have always helped my friends with the subjects they struggled with (Calculus, ACT science, Economics, etc.) because I want to see them succeed. I am currently a junior studying chemical engineering at the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor. Although I am not working towards an education degree, I enjoy helping fellow classmates and tutoring students in subjects where they may not feel confident in. I have the most experience in tutoring middle schoolers, and comfortable with high schoolers as well. In college, I volunteer from time to time to work with high school students who come to our organization to ask for help. Additionally, I am the oldest child in my family. I am used to helping my younger sister and brother who are two to three years younger than me with their homework. The subjects I mainly tutor in is mathematics and science. For math, I enjoy tutoring middle school math, different levels of algebra, and pre-calculus to differential calculus. For science, I can help in chemistry and physics. My favorite subject to tutor is algebra because I find it to be very logical and programs are very systematic. I am a visual learner myself, so I tend to use as much graphics tools as needed for the student. I also am very straightforward with my teaching style, especially in mathematics. However, I always ask my students how they learn things in school and am open to help them understand it in a way they would remember the material.Outside of the academia, I enjoy being outdoors and playing sports, like ultimate frisbee. I ran cross-country in high school, and continue to run long distance today as a hobby. Additionally, I like to hang out with friends, whether its shopping, watching movies, or just chatting.

I graduated with my Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2009. I spent the majority of my early nursing career working in cardiac intensive care. I graduated from the University of Detroit Mercy with my Master of Science in Nursing with a concentration as a Family Nurse Practitioner in 2015. I have worked in the clinical setting as a family nurse practitioner since my graduation. I intimately understand the significance of nursing licensure examinations, as well as the pressure that can accompany these tests. I am confident I will be able to assist you in effectively preparing and performing at your very best. Learning to speak another language is scary for students. I want to create a comfortable atmosphere that enables students to speak the language they wish to learn: naturally, with confidence, and no barriers to impede them from achieving that goal. I have two years of experience as a teacher with emphasis on ESL education. As a native Spanish speaker, I take Spanish learners of all levels and French students up to level 3.
