I approach each tutoring job with the question, “What needs to happen for this particular student to understand this material.” Having taught undergraduates at U.C. Berkeley and middle- and high-school students at the Treasure Island Boys and Girls Club in San Francisco, I have experience working with students from a variety of backgrounds and I know that every one is unique. Further, my goal as a tutor is not merely to impart information, but to guide the student through the learning process so that they can master the subject matter themselves. This requires a highly personalized approach. First, I identify the specific areas where the student needs help, then I craft exercises tailored to the student’s particular learning style. I also find multiple modes – oral, written, kinetic, etc. – through which the student can engage the material and deepen their understanding.

As a teacher, it is important to make sure you aren't simply stating the answers. The most important part of learning is developing a link from a question to the correct answer, a path the student can follow on their own terms to reach the correct answer choice. This isn't something that comes with forces repetition and no explanation. I try to help a student master a set of tools so they have a path to follow and aren't left to grope around in the dark. It's important for me to understand the way the student's mind works. If they are having trouble understanding a problem, I do my best to have to walk through the processes they are trying out. Once I understand how the student sees the problem I can identify what tool they need to fix it.I have had some amazing teachers in my academic career and they really made the difference for me. I want to help inspire others to their full potential. I am patient and attentive, but I leave space for the student to come to the answer on their own.

I graduated from the University of Michigan in May 2015 with a degree in Honors Biophysics. As an undergraduate, I taught and tutored many students in a wide variety of introductory science courses at the University of Michigan. Post-graduation, I have continued to tutor full-time in addition to doing research through the Michigan Clinical Outcomes Research and Reporting Program.I believe that all of the students I work with are intelligent, but often lecture-based learning does not fit their personal learning style. I love working with students to bridge this learning gap, helping them to genuinely understand course content and master homework and exams.

Hello! I am an experienced and dedicated math tutor with a passion for helping students succeed in mathematics. With a strong background in the subject and a genuine love for teaching, I am committed to making a positive impact on my students' learning journey.Mathematics has always been a source of fascination for me. Its logic, patterns, and problem-solving nature captivate my mind and drive my curiosity. I find great joy in unraveling complex mathematical concepts and sharing this excitement with others. As a math tutor, my ultimate goal is to inspire my students to develop a similar enthusiasm for the subject.Over the years, I have worked with students of various ages, backgrounds, and skill levels. Each student is unique, and I firmly believe in tailoring my teaching approach to meet their individual needs. I strive to create a supportive and engaging learning environment, where students feel comfortable asking questions, expressing their challenges, and exploring mathematical concepts at their own pace.My teaching philosophy centers around the idea of making math accessible and relatable. I understand that many students find mathematics daunting and overwhelming. Therefore, I focus on breaking down complex ideas into smaller, more manageable steps. I utilize real-life examples and practical applications to demonstrate the relevance of math in everyday situations, making it easier for students to grasp abstract concepts. As a tutor, I aim to instill not only a deep understanding of mathematical concepts but also strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills. I encourage my students to approach problems from different angles, think creatively, and develop logical reasoning abilities. By emphasizing the process of problem-solving rather than mere memorization, I empower my students to become independent thinkers and confident mathematicians.Communication is at the heart of my tutoring style. I believe in establishing open and effective lines of communication with my students and their parents. Regular progress updates, feedback sessions, and constructive discussions help me understand the specific areas where students may need additional support. I am patient and empathetic, ensuring that my students feel heard and understood throughout their learning journey.Continual professional development is a priority for me as a math tutor. I actively seek out new teaching methodologies, resources, and technology tools to enhance my instructional techniques. I regularly attend workshops, engage in peer discussions, and participate in professional networks to stay informed about the latest advancements in math education. By staying at the forefront of innovative teaching practices, I am able to provide my students with the best possible learning experience. In summary, my passion for mathematics, dedication to my students' success, and commitment to ongoing professional development make me a strong candidate as a math tutor. I am enthusiastic about helping students unlock their full potential, develop a love for mathematics, and achieve their academic goals. I look forward to working with students, supporting their mathematical journey, and making a positive impact on their lives.
