With over 13 years of teaching experience and a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics, my main goal was to understand and recognize student's personal characteristics, experiences, their self concept, attitude, level of anxiety, and study habits. I try to be a side by side guide to connect their prior knowledge with new information. I hope to get them to understand that they are learners, and that their opinions, ideas, voices, and comments are supported and valued. Along with teaching them, I intend to work with them so that they can assume responsibility for their own motivation, coping skills, and sense of control over life. Overall, I work as a facilitator of learning, assisting my students in the process of growing and enhancing their knowledge to better themselves in the future.

No matter what you want to do in life, education is needed for a strong foundation for confidence and character. But sometimes that foundation can be shaky and reinforcement is needed; this is where I come in! Being the oldest sibling of 5 and graduating in the top 20 students of my high school class has given me many skills and first-hand experience needed to help you or your child not only understand the material in front of them, but to become comfortable in manipulating it and explaining it to others. My tutoring style is explanation before memorization: I always look for the root of the problem when something is misunderstood and allow the student to work their way to the answer (they always know more than they think they do!). I am highly adaptable to all types of personalities and age groups from my interactions as a camp counselor, helping my younger siblings with their own homework, and tutoring my peers all throughout middle school and high school in AP courses ranging from English to Math. I am also a pre-med student at UT Dallas and my goal has always been to serve others, so naturally I'm ready to serve you or your child!

Success never comes easy and the harder it looks, the greater the fulfillment will be.I graduated from Mountain View College in Dallas- Texas with an Associates of Art and I have a TESOL/TEFL certification in English teaching from Global Leadership College. I am a native French speaker but along with my master in the French language, I also speak English, Spanish and Mina( a dialect of a West African country called TOGO). It hurts my heart every time I see another student struggle with school work (especially math and chemistry), and that is why I wanted to become a tutor. I love helping other people, and I like the one on one sessions with students so I can make sure they are getting the help they need to succeed. I am a college student at the University of Texas at Arlington, I am pursuing a bachelors degree in Chemistry with a minor in Material Science Engineering. Although in credits I am a year ahead, which means I am technically a sophomore (and I am on track to graduate a year early), this is only my second semester in college.My teaching method is to not answer the question for the student but to ask them questions and bring up fundamental ideas in the subject so the student is able to answer the homework problem on their own. With this teaching style the student will become an independent thinker and will be able to answer a multitude of different problems by being able to think them through. This will also build a students confidence in the subject because the student will eventually be able to answer the question themselves without having to refer to notes which will make them feel as smart as they are becoming!

As a parent, teacher, mentor, and employee I understand the importance of taking a custom approach to each students learning style. I work tounderstand your needs then help students learn by utilizing real world situations to help them connect with the importance of learning concepts.

As a 25-year veteran educator, I am passionate about teaching students and helping all learners understand difficult areas. I received my bachelor's degree from The University of Texas at Arlington. I then went on to get two Master's degrees, one in educational leadership and the other as a Certified Reading Specialist and Master Reading Teacher.Reading and writing are my passions, but I also love tutoring in Math. There is something so rewarding about helping a student understand something they found challenging. Sometimes it just takes a different teacher to help the student see what they were doing wrong, and that is why I love what I do.I believe all learners can be successful if they have a patient teacher, a willingness to do their best, and time to get the work completed.

I have been teaching high school for the past ten years and am about to begin my 11th school year as an English Language Arts and Reading teacher for both 11th and 9th grade.
