I am a student at the University of Texas at Austin. Ever since I was young, I have always been interested in the lives of children--always believing that there was a spark in each and every child, no matter their circumstances or struggles. I've tutored many of my peers in many subjects over the years, but my favorites have always been mathematics, physics, chemistry, and computer science. My philosophy towards teaching is that the student should be learning, not be being taught. A teacher is a guide, and does not teach what to think, but how to think. I always aim to make sure my students completely understand the subjects we are discussing, rather than merely understanding how to apply formulae and equations. In my spare time, I enjoy reading that which enriches my life, running, and the odd hike through the woods.

I'm a recent graduate of the University of Texas and a working engineer here in Austin. While a student, I tutored my peers in algebra and calculus, and worked as part of our elementary school outreach program. I really love math and programming, and I found success as an engineer thanks to mentors who helped me understand and enjoy these topics. In my free time, I like to pay it forward by sharing what I've leaned over the years.I'm well equipped to identify how you best enjoy learning, and it's my personal desire to make sure you have a solid understanding of the material at the end of the day. Specifically, my experience includes 5 years of on campus tutoring at the University of Texas. As part of the UTeach mentoring program, I received formal training in different methods of educating (visual, kinesthetic, auditory), and taught engaging after-school lessons to elementary students.

I received my Bachelor of Arts degree from Washington University in St. Louis where I double majored in Biology and Anthropology. I caught the teaching bug while studying abroad in rural southern India, during which time I taught a computer literacy class to high school students. After college I became a state-certified science educator and spent two years as a Teach For America corps member, teaching high school Biology and SAT/ACT prep in San Antonio, Texas.Despite the extraordinary socioeconomic barriers to academic success that students faced in my school, I was able to lead them to substantial academic gains. My students – many of whom had not passed science in 8th grade – passed their STAAR Biology EOC exam at one of the highest rates in the entire school district. I attribute this outcome not only to my engaging teaching style, but also my patience and willingness to work alongside students until they truly reach mastery of every concept. I also persuaded my principal to adopt the SAT/ACT preparation elective that I taught to sophomores and juniors, because of my personal commitment to ensuring that bright and capable students in my school received the preparation necessary to achieve their post-secondary goals.Currently, I am pursuing dual Master's degrees from the University of Texas in Public Health and Social Work. As a born-and-raised Austinite, my interests include practicing yoga, sampling local food trailers, attending live concerts, and – perhaps most of all – cheering on my beloved Texas Longhorns in football.

I am currently attending Texas A&M Corpus Christi in pursuit of a BS degree in Chemistry. With this degree, I hope to get into medical school and become a doctor. I began tutoring in high school, teaching various subjects from English to Precalculus. In college, I have found I most enjoy tutoring students for the ACT and general chemistry courses. This is due to my extensive knowledge of the subjects as well as my enthusiasm for them. I believe that every student has the capability to understand a subject as long as it is taught in a way that works for them. If I'm not doing school-related things, I am most likely walking my dog or skateboarding. Sometimes both.

I'm a biomedical engineering student and undergraduate researcher at Texas A&M University working towards a Bachelor of Science degree. For as long as I can remember, I've always had a passion for learning. In high school, I challenged myself by taking as many AP exams as possible. Doing so not only shaped my love of education but also challenged me to become a self-taught learner. Using what I learned from AP exam preparation allowed me to become a National Merit Finalist, two-time National AP Scholar, and valedictorian of my graduating class of over 600 students. While my favorite subjects to tutor are high school-level and engineering calculus, I am happy to tutor in a range of subjects, including all-around ACT preparation, high school and college math, chemistry, physics, and world history. By tutoring, I hope to share my passion for learning while also providing students with the tools they need to succeed.

Hi there! I am very excited to help you reach your academic goals. As a former STEM student, I am passionate in seeing a students confidence rise as they conquer challenging problems and concepts in STEM subjects. Ultimately winning these small victories will help you on your path for your life goals of becoming whatever motivates you, and I want to help you get there!I am well-versed in tutoring chemistry and biology subjects, as I just recently graduated from St. Edwards University with a B.S. in Biochemistry with a minor in Psychology. For three years at SEU, I was a tutor, teaching assistant and supplemental instructor for General Chemistry, General Biology, Microbiology and Organic Chemistry. In addition to this, I have also done private tutoring for both high-school and undergraduate natural science courses since for six years now. My favorite subject to tutor is General Chemistry, not only because it is the class I have the most experience tutoring but also because I think it is the most fun (nerd status, I know). Although I love tutoring chem and bio classes, I also tutor for psychology and math classes as well as some test prep classes for the GRE, SAT, ACT and subject tests! As a long-time basketball player and coach, my teaching philosophy is practice makes perfect! I know concepts can be scary at first, but I will walk you through the rough patches until you feel confident enough to do some problems on your own. My goal by the end of our sessions is to have you walk away having independently performed problems in the areas you were once struggling with, now much more confident with that material. I not only do I emphasize content in my sessions, but also best-study practices. This is so you can take the lessons you learn with and become the autonomous learner you need to be to reach your goals. Finally, outside of tutoring I am also very active in my community. I coach basketball for middle school girls, work in the medical field, and thoroughly enjoy the live music scene here int he ATX! Some of my favorite things to do are to walk up and down congress and listen to the free music while eating some Amys ice cream or some Lucky Robot sushi. If you dont see me running the Town Lake trail, I am probably at Zilker park SUP boarding with my roommates corgi or getting fat on Chuys chips and salsa. In addition, I try and play basketball as much as possible, and enjoy a good session of Hot yoga here and there. So, with all that said I hope we have some stuff in common! And if not, Id love to learn more about you as we help you be the best student you can be!
