I am a graduate of Walt Whitman High School and a current Senior at Harvard University. I am a pre-medical student who has been accepted to medical school, and I am a Slavic Languages and Literatures Major. I have tutored private clients in elementary, middle, and high school math for years; worked with disabled students on improving communication and academic skills through the "Best Buddies" program; and taught English language to Russian speakers during a U.S. State Department study abroad scholarship in Moldova. Though I tutor a wide range of subjects, I am most passionate about English, Math, and Public Speaking. In my experience, preparing students for Standardized Testing is immensely satisfying (especially in the Writing and Reading sections) as so much of a student's success is based on their mastery of testing techniques and strategies. I also firmly believe that Public Speaking, as well as organizational skills, are critical to a student's level of confidence and advancement in any subject. I understand that each individual student has a unique approach to learning, and I try to pinpoint the most effective study and comprehension strategies for each of my students, so that he or she feels that his or her time is being used effectively, and so he or she can utilize new tools for success in future classes. In my spare time, I enjoy theater (whether that be participating as a performer or singing along to songs in the car), soccer, dance, and reading.

I am a recent graduate of the University of Vermont, where I majored in Animal Science and minored in Food Systems. I graduated in 7 semesters with Honors and completed and published my senior thesis on Problematic Behaviors in Recently Adopted Dogs. Trhoughout my time at UVM I was a peer tutor at the UVM Learning Cooperative. My natural strength is in English and writing, but I love science and have spent my academic time pursuing it. Because of this I offer a unique cross-sectional perspective of both "hard" and "soft" subjects; I can teach you how to write about science in an accessible and engaging way, and I can show you how to come at writing and literature from a critical, comprehensive and methodical viewpoint. It is through mixing the disciplines that I find the most learning takes place!

I started teaching while an undergrad at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, taking on the role of Teacher's Assistant to a Film Professor at Amherst College. After that I became a corp member of Teach For America Hawaii. Through this program I gained teaching experience first in Phoenix, Arizona, where I spent six weeks teaching 6th grade math. For the following two years I taught first grade in Pahala, HI.What makes me a great tutor is a passion for education and personal relationships. I have always taken pride in academic achievement, and I am able to share that enthusiasm for accomplishment with my students through engaging teaching strategies as well as forging interpersonal relationships. My experiences teaching have led me to realize that learning is a complex process that requires more than academic content. Creating a positive environment in the classroom (or wherever we decide to do our learning) makes learning exciting. Grasping difficult concepts is a whole lot easier when the process is fun! I bring energy and empathy into my instruction, and build personal relationships with my students, which can help make things that are "boring"or "too hard" a challenge that we both want to overcome. Guiding students to achieve their goals is what drew me to the field of education, and tutoring allows me to invest my energy in those successes. Let's accomplish our goals together!

Art history has always been my passion, but I also strongly believe in the importance of a diverse, liberal arts education, which I received at my undergrad institution, Skidmore College. At Skidmore I earned my bachelor's degree in art history, where I also studied Classics, anthropology, psychology, history, English, and government, and spent one glorious semester studying abroad in Paris. At Skidmore I gained tutoring experience working as a peer-mentor, art history tutor, note-taker, and providing SAT prep and general homework help, as well as teaching English while studying in Paris. After Skidmore I moved to London where I earned my Master of Arts in art history at the Courtauld Institute of Art. Currently I am pursuing a doctoral degree at Boston University, with a focus on Renaissance art. Primarily I tutor subjects in the humanities, particularly history, English and, naturally, art history, but I also enjoy working with elementary and middle school students in all subjects. I love tutoring art history and introducing students to a discipline that they may not be as familiar with, and also have a passion for American and European history. For me, making a real connection with a student is a crucial part of tutoring. I am incredibly personable, relaxed, and patient and am able to set students at ease. In addition to a having a passion for travel, I love to read, enjoy scrapbooking, rock-climbing, and baking.

I have obtained Master degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Massachusetts and Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering from University of Texas. I have extensive background and experiences in several fields including Mathematics, Physics and Engineering.I am interested in sharing my knowledge with students, in helping them understand the subject and solving problems. I believe a good tutor can provide guidance, leading students through a thought process in solving problems. A good tutor will motivate the student to think and propose his or her own solutions and develop independent learning.

I am a graduate from the University of Minnesota- Twin Cities with a degree in Genetics, Cell Biology, and Development. I have been tutoring children from the age of four up to 18 for the past seven years and have enjoyed every minute of it. I regularly tutor in math and reading, for students up to 12th grade. I struggled with academics in elementary school, and had a tutor who instilled a deep passion for learning in me then. I strive to share my knowledge and enthusiasm with everyone I work with, and create a personalized plan for each student. I am heavily involved in research in the medical field, and hope to become a doctor one day. Aside from work, I enjoy reading, going on hikes, and exploring new places.

I am a graduate of Northeastern University, with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry degree. Since graduation, I have worked in the Pharmaceutical industry. I have had the wonderful opportunity to travel both domestically and internationally, which has given me the ability to interact with people from many different walks of life. During High School and College, I tutored my peers in a range of subjects including SAT prep, English, Math, Biology, and Chemistry. I am most passionate about Life Sciences. However, I'm a stickler for proper grammar which is very suitable when it comes to helping students with their SAT prep or English studies. I am a firm proponent of education, knowing that it is vital for an improved quality of life. I try to impart this philosophy to all of my students while still maintaining a fun, positive environment for them to master the subject areas they are developing. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, cooking and practicing yoga.

I am a recent graduate of Hampshire College with a background in teaching math intensive subject matter to students studying the humanities. I’ve TA’d four semesters of college classes, and in that time, I have developed a passion for instilling a love of learning. My senior thesis was in the field of education; I developed an electronics curriculum intended to be taught to math-phobic artists and designers. Due to my personal history with learning disabilities, I have a great deal of practice reframing the perspective in which material is considered, learned, and taught, in order to cater to each individuals’ needs. I am a strong believer that absolutely anyone can learn to work fluidly with the concepts presented in math classes, and that material is best engaged with in modalities suited to an individual’s learning style. I tutor all maths taught before the end of highschool, from Elementary classes through Calculus BC. I believe firmly in teaching students the skills they need to solve problems on their own, and in doing so, helping them learn to perform this process for themselves in the future. I practice martial arts, and recently have begun some yoga. I enjoy dancing and running. I have three plants, and like to play tag. I used to practice some circus skills, and love to play a wide variety of games. I think feminism is rad, and that one of the best things to practice is seeing everyone as a person. I have a Bachelors in Electronic Design, and love to learn.
