I feel that knowing the reason why we are doing something is infinitely more important than the way we are doing it. Teaching is more than cramming loads of data into a student's mind. Teaching is the art of training a student's mind to think and never end the thirst for knowledge.I completed my BA Degree in History at Syracuse University and my JD Degree, cum laude, at The Delaware Law School of Widener University of Pennsylvania. I was the Research Editor of the Law Review and graduated 7th in a class of 267.I have over 15 years of experience as a college instructor and over 30 years of experience, tutoring and mentoring students, and young attorneys.I tutor students in American History, World History, Constitutional Law, Civics, The Government and Politics. My students range from Middle School to College and Graduate School and includes those students enrolled in AP Courses and Honors Classes. I also tutor students who are taking the PSAT, SAT, ACT, or LSAT.My favorite subject to tutor is History, as I bring the course alive for the student, show the student it's relevance in today's world and help the student to prepare for multiple choice, true and false, fill-in-the-blanks, and essay test questions. My tutoring style is to listen to the student and understand what he/she needs to succeed in a particular course. I work hand-in-hand with student to assist the student in achieving his/her goals.Outside of academia, I enjoy watching and participating in sports and trivia contests. I also am a member of a local Readers Theater Group and attend a variety of musical concerts and theatrical productions. My hobbies include, reading, travel, and my extensive model railroad layout.

ACT Math Tutor • +15 Subjects
I grew up in a small town in Maryland and obtained my degree in chemistry at the University of Maryland in College Park. Shortly after graduation, I moved to Houston to attend graduate school at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. I obtained my Ph.D. degree in 2008 and have been doing research at MD Anderson Cancer Center since that time. I have always been interested in helping students master science and math. I tutored chemistry as an undergraduate and more recently have worked with high school students in a variety of math and science subjects. I always strive to set goals with the student and plan a path to meet those goals. Additionally, I always encourage students, especially young children, to be inquisitive and develop an interest in science. There is nothing more rewarding than watching a student have an "ah-ha" moment when the material makes sense to them. In my spare time, I enjoy volunteering with a no-kill animal rescue in Houston and spending time with my family.

Hi there! Ny name is Daniel and I'm a professional Math & Science Tutor. Since I was very little, I have always had a huge passion for math and science. Not only did I excel in these subjects, I really enjoyed learning about them as well! From middle school all the way through college, I would help siblings, colleagues, and classmates with their math homework, and I wasn't just doing the homework for them - I would spend time making sure that they actually understood the material. That is the most rewarding part for me - seeing that "aha" moment whenever someone I'm helping finally understands a concept he or she has been struggling with. This is the exact approach I take now when tutoring my students - by making sure my clients actually understand and fully comprehend the material, I'm empowering them to take the skills they have learned from me and use them not just to make better grades, but to be able to better teach themselves new concepts in the future.I know how difficult it can be to keep up in a class you are struggling in - classes can often be very large, and most teachers simply don't have enough time to cater to each student individually. This is the advantage that I bring as a tutor - I recognize that all students have different learning styles, and one of the most important things for me as a professional tutor is to connect with my clients so that they know that I understand exactly where they are coming from and why it is that they are struggling. Once that connection has been established, I create a customized tutoring plan that maximizes my clients strengths and puts him or her in a position to succeed going forward. My tutoring style isn't just about helping my clients with their math homework, or even doing well on a single exam - I teach my clients how to learn successfully, so that they have new skills that they can take with them out into the classroom that will be valuable for the rest of their academic careers. On top of it all, I love helping people, and I think that carries over into the relationships I develop with my clients - I know that I couldn't be successful in a domain like this if I wasn't passionate about the subject!Math has always been a subject that has come very easily to me. I aced all of my math classes throughout high school and college, was 2 years ahead of my grade, and often took 2 (or more) math classes in a single year. Of course, you may begin to wonder if that means that I won't be able to relate to students who struggle with math, but I have not found that to be the case. I have always loved helping people understand math, and I have a unique ability of being able to put myself into other people's shoes and seeing things from their point of view. All throughout college, as I was taking advanced statistics classes, I would always receive high praise from my classmates, thanking me for my ability to explain difficult concepts to them and help them understand problems that just weren't clicking for them.Aside from tutoring, my passions are yoga, partner dancing, spending time outdoors, nutrition and health, and spending time with close family and friends. If you think I could be of service to you, please reach out to learn more - I would absolutely love to help! I love learning and helping people, so being able to help others learn in academia is one of the great joys of my life.

I am a microbiology graduate from Brigham Young University Idaho. I'm currently working for a year while I apply to graduate programs in microbiology, specifically focusing on immunology. I've been a tutor for both under-division and upper-division biology courses and have a passion for the sciences. I believe in teaching people, rather than lessons, and I strive to prepare for each tutoring session to best fit the need of the individual student. I love drawing visuals during teaching and making concepts and topics relative to the student.

1st Grade French Tutor • +26 Subjects
Although my life has taken me on many adventures, I have always known I wanted to be a teacher. I graduated from Trinity University with a degree in French and International Studies having spent a semester of my junior year studying abroad in Paris. I then earned my Master of Arts in Teaching degree in Elementary Education, which included a full year internship teaching at an elementary school. I still knew that I loved teaching, but I also felt drawn back to French, so I pursued a PhD in French literature at UT Austin. During that time, I worked as an teaching assistant for a Freshman composition course and taught the first two levels of college French for two years. I also researched in Paris for another semester. More recently, I have worked for two years as a tutor, both in person and online, in French, Essay Writing, and Test Prep. I have 5+ years of teaching experience with all ages, elementary through graduate school, in French, Writing, and elementary school subjects. I strongly believe that there is no one way to learn, and that tutoring should fit each student's individual needs and interests.

I love helping students, I became a teacher to be able to reach students of all capabilities. I believe that each student can learn and grow their abilities if they are given an opportunity. I come from a background in Health Care Administration, but changed my career path to become a teacher recently to be able to be a support for students. I currently teach 4th grade - I am comfortable teaching all core content areas, Math, Science, Social Studies, Reading and Writing. My belief is that each student learns differently, it is important to determine the specific needs of each child in order to best support their academic needs.

I am a graduate of Laguna College of Art and Design (formerly Art Institute of Southern California). I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design and Illustration in 1996. The early 90's was the wild west of desktop publishing, and we as students were literally discovering the power of applications like Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, side-by-side, with our instructors. Each day, we were learning from them. And they were learning from us. This is a philosophy I have always applied in my career... you are never too seasoned, or too experienced, to learn something new. After graduation, I accepted an opportunity with my employer to join a team in our Central California HQ, working to design and test the UI for a replacement Point-of-Sale system. This allowed me to eventually segue into a permanent role traveling across the country, supporting the hardware and software roll-out, and training our associates on the new system. This is when I developed my passion for travel. In 1999, I "went online" for the first time, and discovered that the same design applications I'd studied in art school were now the graphic building blocks of the Internet. I was immediately hooked. Within a couple of weeks, I was building my first website, "Next Stop, Aptos Station!", showcasing my love of railroading history.Over the next couple of years, I honed my skills in HTML and JavaScript. Those two programming languages, and eventually CSS, would serve me for the next 10 years of my career as a Web Designer and Developer. And eventually opened the door to more than a decade as a Salesforce.com Administrator. In 2018, I was able to shift gears and start traveling the U.S. with my wife and dog, in our camper van. I continue to work as a Salesforce Administrator, as a remote worker, from where ever we happen to be this month. I continue to enjoy my two aquatic passions, surfing and bodysurfing, and also manage to hit a few skateboard parks along the way.Through hard work, and smart choices, I have been blessed with a range of career opportunities, and life experiences, and I hope to impart this to my students.

Hello. I am a Spanish professor with Austin Community College. I've taught Spanish at the middle school through college level for the last 15 years and I have plenty of tutoring experience.Having learned Spanish as a second language I understand a student's struggle learning the language. Students have told me I am patient and calm as a teacher. Since I have taught young people and older students I feel I have a good understanding of how to present a given concept to a specific student. I am well aware that some younger learners struggle with attention span. For this reason I use fun activities and age appropriate materials. In the past I have tutored businessmen and women who had specific goals for a trip to a Spanish speaking country. I feel comfortable teaching both adults and children. As far as materials I have plenty to offer. I designed my own language learning website that covers the grammar learned in Spanish I and II.I look forward to working with anyone who needs help with Spanish. I am punctual and professional while still keeping a relaxed attitude with my students. If you are looking for a teacher with those qualities I'd love to work with you.
