I graduated with honors from the University of California, Riverside with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics - Applied Mathematics/Economics and a minor in Statistics. I love math and want to use what I have learned to help others succeed in math classes. As part of my experience in college, I was a supplemental instruction leader and involved in math reader programs, which developed my teaching skills in different levels of mathematics. Even after I graduated, I still continued to do small group teaching in a private education institute and some one-on-one tutoring. When I see my students are struggling with math, I am always patient and use different approaches to make sure they understand the material before moving on. I have tutored and taught students for the past five years in a variety of subjects in Tennessee, Los Angeles, and Melbourne, Australia. I currently tutor in SAT writing and verbal preparation, essay writing skills, English, and Literature. My favorite subjects to tutor are definitely those that involve writing, because they provide fantastic opportunities for students to express their creativity. One of my major goals in tutoring is to help students find a passion for learning the material they are presented with. In my free time I love attending comedy shows, playing volleyball at the beach, and finding new restaurants to eat at with friends.

I am an active and dedicated learner. I enjoy learning new things, no matter how complex they may seem. In the end, it gives me great satisfaction to know that I was able to obtain full knowledge of something I did not have knowledge of before.I have taken my knowledge and have put it to the test by volunteering in places that have continuously tested it, in which I have gained a lot of experience. For example, I volunteered at my local hospital, in the Pediatrics Department for 4 years. Apart from attending the younger patients with toys and coloring books, I would help the older patients, who were in Middle/High School, by helping them complete any assignments for school.Not only that, but in that time period, and currently, I have been volunteering as a mentor and tutor at Fontana Adult School. There I guide students towards a college path so that they can achieve a career that best suits them.Along the way, I have had a lot of experience with people of all age, race, and belief groups. Being a tutor at Varsity Tutors is just another form to express the knowledge and experience I have gained throughout my life.

I have a bachelor's degree in psychology from Southern Adventist University, located in Chattanooga, Tennessee. I worked as a research design, statistics, and general psychology tutor while earning this degree. I am currently in year two of a six year program to earn my PhD in Clinical Psychology. I tutor math, statistics, social sciences, and psychology. I enjoy tutoring math and statistics because I like trying to find new ways to help people understand sometimes complicated concepts. I find that things are easiest to learn if they can be applied to everyday kind of experiences, so I like to try and find ways to tie concepts into daily life.While I spend a lot of my time wrapped up in school, particularly in research and statistics, I also work part time as a therapy intern, and in my free time I love to ride bicycles. I am an avid cyclist, and I enjoy working on my small collection of bicycles when I can find the time.

A Symbolic Systems and Theater double-major at Stanford University in Northern California, Milan is very excited to be a part of the Varsity Tutors team. His main academic interests are English, philosophy, math, and computer science, but Milan enjoys many other subjects (psychology, physics, and economics to name a few). He is fluent in Spanish and an active member of the Latino community. In his free time, he enjoys reading, writing, and taking the occasional photograph.
