I am an undergraduate student studying Neuroscience and Religion at Emory University. I've been tutoring for over three years, and I have extensive experience tutoring math all the way from Algebra 1 to Calculus 2. I am extremely passionate about helping students understand and love what they are learning, and in my experience, my tutoring style of focusing on the underlying concepts of a subject has been very successful. I find students that are able to critically apply what they have learned to new problems are the most successful, and I strive to make every one of my students adopt this mentality. I love getting to know my students on a personal level, and speaking to them about my love for undergraduate research, dancing, and sports!

Over the years I have discovered a passion for teaching. Sharing knowledge with others, supporting them to overcome any challenge, and helping them achieve their academic goals has been one of the most rewarding experiences for me.As a tutor, I am committed to empowering my students and supporting their academic and personal growth. I believe the foundation to successful tutoring to be a mutually trusting and accommodating relationship; thus, I am a firm believer of individualized lesson plans that play to the unique strengths and weaknesses of each student. With a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Emory University, I have a strong understanding of both fundamental and advanced topics in biology - from introductory biology to microbiology, evolutionary biology, and more. Furthermore, I am also well-versed in chemistry - from general chemistry, to organic chemistry and biochemistry.Having scored a 517 (94th percentile) on the MCAT and an ACT composite score of 35, I understand how challenging the MCAT & ACT are, but more importantly, I recognize the strong test-taking strategies, healthy studying methods, and support system that form the foundation for effective exam preparation.

After a successful career at McIntosh High School in Peachtree City, GA, I matriculated to the University of Georgia. Seeking a degree in Neuroscience, I am working my way to med-school and a bright future. Active in both the Honors program and Center for Undergraduate Research, I have developed a great work ethic which I hope to impart to my students! I've spent the past two summers teaching private swim lessons to children and adults throughout my community. Turning a person's goal into reality is the greatest thrill I've known! Similarly, I spent two semesters as a mentor at the Thomas Lay After-School Program in Athens, GA. There, I both tutored and befriended the children of the program. My favorite memory occurred during mandatory reading hours. A stubborn, apathetic boy refused to read any books. Rather than becoming frustrated, I asked him "If you could be any animal, what would you be?" I knew the library had a large section of zoology books, and hoped to pique his interest. Immediately, he responded "A fish!" The following weeks were filled with shark, octopus, and whale books. To this day, his transformation from disinterested to engaged and motivated fuels my desire to mentor today's youth.

I attended Arizona State University's Ira A. Fulton School of Engineering, where I received a Bachelor of Science in Engineering for Engineering Management with a focus on Business Analysis, and I minored in Sustainability. During my studies, I was a personal tutor for elementary and middle school children and was an undergraduate teaching assistant for engineering courses. I also was a routine presenter at Family Science Night at elementary schools in the Atlanta Metro with IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers). I am a massive proponent for spreading the real-life fun of STEM, especially to underrepresented groups!

I am an experienced special education teacher who can reach students at all grade levels. I have experience teaching a variety of students that include ELL learners and students with special needs. My specialty is math and history at a secondary level. I love tutoring because I can efficiently focus on students on a 1-to-1 level, which I realize can be challenging in a classroom setting.

I am currently an undergraduate at UGA studying Computer Science. Starting from my sophomore year in high school, I have had many opportunities to work closely with children of all ages, most notably with middle schoolers and early high schoolers. I am a strong believer in teaching what the student desires to know and will work together with my students to figure out what is the best for their own lives. There is nothing more exciting to me than witnessing the moment an abstract concept becomes an understandable part of reality in the eyes of a child.
